As others before me have said that is a great post, and regardless of what ANYONE else thinks of you for it, or your service, ( Being on the "left" coast)  WE are proud to call such a thoughtful young man our friend.
Like Frank, I was on active duty when the Iranians seized the US embassy. Jimmy carter stood up and...Did nothing. He talked, as Obama has said HE wants to talk, to those who hate everything we stand for, and everything we believe.
I fear for the future of our Nation.

From Wikipedia: On January 20, 1981, minutes after Reagan was sworn in as President, the American hostages were released by Iran into U.S. custody, having spent 444 days in captivity.

Speaking at the Berlin Wall, on June 12, 1987, Reagan challenged Gorbachev to go further: "General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!

From NRA ILA: In fact, President Reagan, the owner of an AR-15, was a strong and consistent supporter of the Second Amendment and the NRA. He was a long time member, joining NRA in December of 1972 and upgrading to Life Member in August of 1979. He actively courted the NRA`s endorsement in both of his presidential campaigns, and was the first presidential candidate in history to receive that endorsement. He appeared on the cover of NRA magazines four times. In 1983 he was offered, and accepted, an NRA Honorary Life Membership, the highest honor bestowed by the NRA.

I can't help but like Ronald Reagan after all that. I grew to be a man during his first 4 years. No President will mean as much to me as him. I think I understand Ksail's feelings about Bush, the admiration.

Thanks for sharing K. Bush is a complicated president...a disappointment in so many ways, yet a real leader in other ways. I too think you should send that to him.

Thanks for the post Ksail. I haven't been a big Bush supporter but I can see how you feel about him. He didn't have a easy job.
I too think you should send it to him.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your kind words. They mean alot cause I have so much respect for all of you.

If I knew how to send it to him I would. There is alot more I would probably add as well.

As you all have said before he wasnt the greatest but he did have a profound effect on my life. I know there are many like me. And as I have stated before I just hope America will stay America.

Did we win???

Eric beat me to it. While I to have issues with GW on certain issues, we were only attacked that once because of the decisions that he made.
