Hey Haz,
I had not been logging on much lately so had not heard of what was happening.  Sorry to hear about your problems.  Keep the faith.

Don't Mess with the Cat!

Thoughts and Prayers to you and your family Haz.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Keep plugging, Haz, everything gets better. Prayers for all, even your accountant. I pray he gets a 6' 5" gay pornstar named "Nightstick" for a cellmate.

I just caught this thread and while the subject matter is grave, I just about fell off my chair when I read this ;D

Haz,

You are a thoughtful and a very open and trusting person.  That is to your credit.  Unfortunately, sometimes people will take advantage for their own gain.  Don't let that change who you are.  Maybe a little more of Pres. Regan's "Trust but verify", but this world is lacking in folks with both your character and drive.  I have no doubt that you will overcome.
The person who has nothing for which his is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Haz, my brother, you and Patty both continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.  You are to be commended for doing the authorities' jobs for them.  Most people would just throw up their hands and say "f*** it!!".  Make that sucker pay.  Things WILL get better.  Sometimes GOOD things happen to good people, and you are good people.  Even when it looks darkest, remember my motto "noolis bastardis carborundum" (translation at left).

Take care, dude, and may God richly bless you!!

Update.....

Had a meeting with the State attorney and the Detective.  They had only found $12,500.00 worth of fraud.  We supplied them with MUCH more.  The State Attorney has decided that they will prosecute (YAAAAAAY!!!).  They think he will probably plead out.  Jail time is unknown (personally I would have no problem throwing the switch if he got a death sentence) but restitution will be part of it (of course I'll never see any as the guy is broke).

At least right now he is starting his third week in jail as we move through the system.

Thanks for the support, y'all.  Hopefully I will have time to get back on the forum in the next couple of weeks.

Patty continues to heal but is in real pain (and she's no wimp).

Good to hear things are moving forward.  The good light of the universe surrounds you.  Keep the faith Brother!

I'm not sure about FL law, but most most states they have a level system to where  X ammount is a low level felony, Y ammount is a high level felony... etc  etc.  I'm sure thats over the the limit for the low level, and I'd bet its just over the ammount for the next step up.

The bad part is white coller crime does almost no time in the pen.

I have a novel idea that might take care of the issue of punishment and restitution all in one fell swoop!!  Expanding on your idea of the death penalty, let's start a lottery.  $10 a ticket and the winner gets to flip the switch!!  I'm quite sure there are enough of us on here who would buy into that to come pretty darned close to taking care of the restitution.   ;D
