The Brady Bunch has release their 2008 report ranking the states by gun control. Not surprisingly California rank #1. They didn't rate DC but I suspect it would have rated higher than California so I added them as a zero ranking*.
http://www.stategunlaws.org/xshare/pdf/scorecard/2008/2008_scorecard_rankings.pdfWhat does this mean?
NOTHINGIf you plot the gun control ranking verses the violent crime ranking there is NO correlation. The plots are all over the place which indicates that gun control has no effect on crime. There are other reasons for the crime rates than the availability of guns. The trend line is almost flat. (I'll provide a graph later.)
Here's the comparison of Brady Gun Control ranking for 2008 (low number means high gun control), and the FBI Uniform Crime Report ranking for Violent Crime Rate 2007 (latest numbers available) (low number mean high in crime). (Duplicate numbers means a tie)
