There are only a couple that I would not sell because they are family guns that have been passed down to me and will someday go to my children.

The others I would sell/trade for other guns if I found a good deal or it was something I really wanted. All the guns I own have a purpose. All (except one) fulfill their roles very well, and I really have no need to sell/trade.

I am currently considering selling/trading my Benelli Nova simply because I dont really like the way the gun fits me and would like to find a more comfortable shotgun.

Family heirloms are keepers, everything else is up for sale or trade.

The odd thing about family heirloms, is that the pistols I gave to my Sons, I would have traded at a heartbeat. They now consider them heirloms.

I have sold a few that weren't dear to my heart.  I have also given a few away as gifts, but that was the reason I bought them to begin with.
Probably fixing to sell or trade a few as some of my firearms interest have changed and I could use the money.  Some are heirlooms, go to guns, or first guns that I won't part with.

I now have three guns. I wont sell one because I won it, I wont sell another one (.45) because it was my first. I would sell the third but only to upgrade, mainly because it is my inexpensive shooter (.22)

Might I add.....

This may be the best time of your life to sell your guns...... or maybe the worst....

That is if we do NOT go off into the communist far left oblivion that Obama/Brady want to take us to..... where guns are so difficult/expensive to get that the avg Joe has effectively been disenfranchised from his 2nd Amendment rights.

If what we are seeing in the gun industry is truly just an industry "bubble" like we saw in the Tech and housing industries, then "buy low/sell high" is the rule that is in play here. Prices and demand are soaring, and in this type of environment, its a good time to be a seller.

If this is truly a "bubble", within a few years we will see a sharp decline in demand and a market that is saturated with product...... consequently, gun shops and manufacturers will be over run with inventory, and you should be able to buy anything and everything on the cheap.

Fear is driving this run on the market right now. Lack of product (ammo and firearms) are causing prices to soar and are contributing to the shortage of supply. Obama's four years in office and if he gets elected or not are going to be the deciding factors. I just "hope" that in four years things "change" and we have a pro gun Republican in office so that I can add to my arsenal at discount prices.

I have sold more guns than I can list here. Some I didn't like and some I was just desperate for cash to keep body and soul together. In my move to Montana we were so short (due to a combination of factors) that I sold everything but my FR-8 and i might have sold it except for the fact that it has some minor issues that would have made it worth more to keep than to sell.

I have now begun to replace my weapons, I have the CZ-999 (A.K.A. EZ40 from EAA) an a Rossi 2in1 in 12ga and 22lr and my next acquisition will be a semi-auto carbine (probably an SKS) and I will save my pennies for a PTR91, though who knows if I will have enough time before things get really stupid in the USA.

I use to be one of these guys who fixated on certain models and brands (and I still do to a small extent) but I have come to conclude that Master Musashi was right;
" You should not have any special fondness for a particular weapon, or anything else, for that matter. . .To entertain likes and dislikes is bad for both commanders and soldiers. Pragmatic thinking is essential."
Gorin no sho (The Book of Five Rings) The Earth Scroll
Miyamoto Musashi

I now look at weapons according to what they do and how they do it. I am more concerned with the function of the weapon than brand or type. Guns are tools, nothing more, some tools are better than others, some do different jobs better than others. I will buy weapons that will suit the jobs I envision and sell and replace them as necessary. Like the Gold and Silver I used to have, they are investments designed to preserve my life and/or make my life easier and I no longer view them as an end in themselves.

Why, with guns you can get anything...

Warhawk, the FR8 in .308 were notorious for feed issues resulting from rough chambers.

In my first life as a gun guy I was a bad businessman.  I'd buy a gun for $250 and trade it for another but only get $150 for it.  It was the NEED to have that next gun....but poor finance.

This is my second life....and I am older....I walk a little slower, I consider things a bit longer.  And I have more money.

My plan now is to purchase carefully, shoot often and sell only if I don't care for the piece.

I sell a gun when it isn't what I expected when I bought it or I am unhappy with its performance.  I chalk any monetary loss up to the price of an education.

Also, when it comes back from a factory "upgrade" with a twelve pound trigger I sell it and throw the hat in as well.  :P
