"Fun Guns"
« on: August 11, 2007, 09:14:02 PM »
Seeing Hazcats post on his newly acquired Rem Nylon 66 got me to thinking, What guns do you reach for when you just want to relax and have some fun. Make , Model, caliber, type of sights That sort of thing.also why is it your choice as a Fun Gun? I'll start by listing 2 of my favorites.
1) Ruger Old Model Single Six,.22 rimfire, fixed iron sights. This is just a fun pistol to shoot, it's accurate, easy to operate and cheap to shoot. plus it being a Single action it's good practice for Cowboy Action Shooting.

2)Smith & Wesson K-22 5 screw double action revolver. .22 rimfire, iron sights. again, it's accurate, cheap to shoot and the best thing is I used this revolver to shoot a .22 pistol combat league that a local club had and I was able to out shoot most of the guys that had tricked out auto loaders with electronic sights. I used speed loaders for the reloads and just had a great time .

Ok, Now lets hear from the rest of you.

I've also got a Ruger SS (6.5) but mine has the adj sites.  Love it too.

And when I'm feeling 'frisky' for some 100 yard stuff I have an old Springfield 84 C- with a scope and an old Western Field also scoped both .22 and fun to take to the 100 yard line with the "big boys".
All tipoes and misspelings are copi-righted.  Pleeze do not reuse without ritten persimmons  :D

Ruger MK 2 stainless, bull barrel, Ruger 10/22 and of course my two ARs. My Mini 14 is fun too, if you aint too concerned about hitting anything far away.  Then, there is my Old and New Model Blackhawks, in .357, .41 Mag, .44 Mag, and .45 Colt and my Vaquero, and my two 77 MK2s and my 77/50, or my GP100 or my SP101.  Of course the P89 and P90 is also fun.   Actually, when I really think about it, I have almost more fun when I shoot my Ruger Old Army blackpowder revolver, but I have to be in the mood for it.  It is a lot of fun, and relaxing too.  Love the smell of blackpowder in the air!  But, the key is whatever I am in the mood for is the fun gun at the moment!

You really are ON to something my friend...the fun gun in our bag is a Ruger new model Blackhawk. Lots to do loading, popping out one casing at a time, etc., etc...and very exciting with the hotter loads. I really enjoy my Sig 2022 for throwing 30-45 rounds of 9 mm out there quick. That's always a gas.

Three of my fun guns in no particular order:

Remington 40X Heavy Barrel 22 (this time of year I get a kick out of shootin' flies landing on my 25 yard target board)

Smith & Wesson 5 screw Model 28 (this one shoots dead on with lead SWCs and makes for a pleasant afternoon)

Smith and Wesson 4 inch 629 (whether at the range or just out and about bustin' rocks, cans and such)

Actually any guns are fun guns as long as I can make some noise and smell some burnt gunpowder ;D

I have several  that are "fun guns" but I will list 3 favorites.

1.  US Ordnance 1919A4 semi-auto w/6lobe Crankfire in 30-06 or 308 on a M2 tripod, shooting bowling pins at 100yds.
2.  Springfield M1A in 308, iron sights paper targets.
3.  S & W MP-15 in 223, eotec bowling pins at 100 yds.

Can't give a reason why they are fun, just are.
