Custom sig 245. How good is the nickle plated compared to other sig finishes?  what do you think about this one?

pgaona,

I recognize the slide stop and mag release. What are those other two controls? One must be a safety...

pgaona,

I recognize the slide stop and mag release. What are those other two controls? One must be a safety...

The lever directly above the mag release is the decocker which permits returning the hammer to an uncocked position.  Doing this then returns the trigger action to a Double Action mode.

The forward lever directly under the slide is the take down lever which permits getting into the mechanics of the pistol frame.

There is a four-part construction for the safety mechanism, and you will only see a safety lever on the Single Action Only models.

Here is  a SIG P220 Carry model in the Nickel finish.

The nickel seems to wear a bit better than the blue / black NITRON finish, in my opinoin.

The only negative I have heard regarding the nickel finish is that selected Hoppe's #9 products and the nickel finish do not combine well if in contact for too long of a time.  I do not use Hoppe's products so, therefor can neither attest nor discount the claim.

Worsham, the large lever in the middle chooses between "coffee" and "tea."

Great looking gun! I had a European mag release 220 in electroless nickel when I lived in Florida, and it held up super in a harsh environment.

That lever is actually the reason I got my first Sig. I wanted something that could be available but not "cocked and locked". It can be sitting around in double action and be pretty safe, without actually having a safety to maybe fumble with in the middle of the night. At about 10 to 10-1/2 pounds and about 1-1/4" pull, you have to REALLY want to shoot the thing in DA, but you could squeeze off a shot if you need to then get busy at a 4 lbs pull for another 14 rounds (with my 9mm).
Plus, sometimes I like coffee, sometimes I like tea. That's a nice feature.

I have a 220 two tone which after a couple weeks of carrying it inside the waist without a holster has just started to rust. Just FYI man. Now that it has come up through the nickel i cant get rid of it.
