« on: April 03, 2009, 09:32:40 AM »
Came back east to get a vehicle for the wife and man I'm telling you I DO NOT belong out here anymore, I can't wait to get back to Montana.

About five years ago I had the "pleasure" of driving through the east side downtown.  I thought that stuff was just in movies!  People wrapped in newspaper sleeping in the gutter (in the rain...), cars on fire IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET!, Guys stripping and chopping up bran new cadillacs in parking lots,  nobody even stopped for the lights they just slow down look around and keep moving.

Downtown fell apart a LONG time ago when the big three were forced out by union labor costs.  They moved to Kentuky, SC, all up and down I75 to get away from the union but it slowly followed them...  Result.  The union spread like a virus.  End result. Today's economy!

Not an opinion.  Fact.  The downtown Detroit kind of livelyhood will be coming to a neighborhood near you soon if it hasent yet.  Just do what you can to prepare. ;)

Heard the same about Michigan as a whole. Bunch of folks leaving for greener pastures.

The magic question is:

What political party has been in control of MI for several decades, except for one Gov.?

(Hum Jeopardy theme song,........)

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Yep and the BIG problem is the IDIOTS leaving the ruined areas (NYC, NJ, PA, etc) bring their failed politics and policies with them and just ruin a new area!

With the tax increases coming for New York, AND NYC, the same thing is going to happen.....

Haz, we'll have more of them down here in Fl. :P

Been noticing quite a few NY plates in the traffic lately,..... :-\

Comrade President and Comrade Speaker Pelosi do.

Tell me about it. This is still a decent place to live but it has been getting worse as more and more Massholes flee up here.
I worked at one place here in Laconia where out of 12 guys I was the ONLY one not from Mass or Conn.
