American pocket pistols
« on: April 04, 2009, 03:25:30 AM »
I posted earlier about looking at changing my carry rig to get either a Glock 26 or 36. I will, in all honesty, probably wind up with a 26. However the post on Detroit made me realize I should at least give American manufacturers the right of first refusal. I don't like keltecs. I owned a p11 for about 10 minutes and  its a good gun for the money, but I just couldn't live with the trigger. The LCP is out because I really don't think the .380 is enough gun. Better than nothing yes, better than 9mm .45 or .40, no. This leaves me with other Smiths, Rugers etc. in semi-auto. Does any one have any suggestions of something that would be comparable in size, reliabilty and dependability to the Glock 26 that was made here in America?

The M&P or the 3rd gen "lady smiths" are both good choices from smith.  I've heard good things about Kahrs, but I have no 1st hand exp with them.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Not to throw you a complete curve ball, but take a hard look at the SP101 as an option to!

I'd get the one without the hammer sticking out.  No chance of it getting caught on something!  Even come with a laser if you like.

The Para USA Slim Hawg might be good to look at, especially if you are already familiar with the 1911 style of pistol.

My two main carry pieces are a Smith M&P 40C or a J-frame. Both comparatively light and concealable. And USA made.

fightingquaker13 who is trying to do the right thing

Doing the right thing is finding the gun you like and shoot the best for the intended purpose. I wouldn't worry much about where it is manufactured. GLOCK parts are made in Austria and assembled in Smyna, GA. I pocked carry a GLOCK 26. It suits me.

I'll proably wind up that way. I just didn't want to miss out on something I'd never thought of.

Had a chance to "fondle" one of these at the show today, felt solid, nice grip angle. Sights are simple, not overbearing, and right around $400.00. PT145. Not too shabby. 10+1. 45ACP.

I am a huge fan of Glocks but lately I have been carrying the Smith and Wesson M&P 9C. It is as accurate as my Glocks and the extra weight keeps recoil down. I did a review of it on here if you would care to read it. There are others that have commented in their reviews that can give more input.
