Short version:  I had a deal worked out, then I went off to teach a military course..... by the time I got back in touch with dealership, Chrysler had filed for bankruptcy and banks were changing terms.... even with 40+% down! Over the past 2 weeks I bought the wife a motorcycle (DRZ400SM), made some cosmetic improvements to the Harley and commissioned a custom project on my Ducati (street-fightering it).

I'm on the sidelines for a muscle car until things settle down in Auto-World.

When push came to shove, one of the highlights of moving back east was supposed to be significantly more time on 2 wheels, so that's where the focus is now. I promise to update when I make the move... with pics!

Hate that things didn't turn out with the car, Rob.
And, be mindful of idiots while on the two-wheelers.

Damn straight. I wore a full face helmet while riding a moped in DC. I was a courier and was on the the damn thing ten hours a day in the summer. Lots of grease on the streets when it rained, and steel plates in the streets to cover holes when they were working on underground cables.  I laid it down 4 times over the course of thee summers work. The job paid well (about $400 a week in the late eighties), but I would be dead if not for the brain bucket.

Although we have noticed some long-term 'residual damage', we just overlook it.

PLEASE!!! If you do get a Challenger, for the love of all things muscle, CHANGE THE REAR WHEELS!! Those things need to have some fat rubber in the back. Seen so many of them driving around with 'donuts' for drive wheels (I am well aware that's how they rolled off the factory back in the late 60's. My age may be low, but I was raised a gear head from birth with older values). If their idea is, this car is so powerful it can break traction... I'm not impressed. A 50cc moped could break the traction of those dinky things.

I know, I know, wheel/tire combination is mainly a personal appearance, function sorta thing but just consider the idea.

Laugh it up pirate boy, BUT:
A, That four hundred bucks a week let me pay pay a month's worth of summer rent when the dorms were closed with one weeks work, which is more than most college kids can say.
B, It was a manly moped, a very manly moped, a Harelyped even, made in Yugoslavia, I mean Michigan, or, Austria or anywhere but Yugoslavia. But hell, I was 19 and broke, and it even got me laid once because a girl found it "cute". Male pride vs teenage hormones. Hormones..pride? Hormones..pride? We all know how that debate ends. ;D
FQ13 who still thinks wearing a brain bucket is a good idea

Trust me, it wasn't a traumatic event... when things turned ugli(er) for Chrysler, it was an easy "I think I'll wait a couple/few months".. then my complete lack of fiscal discipline reminded me that I cold spend money on Bikes!

As for the "be careful" stuff... the last time I high sided I was wearing hiking pants, sunglasses and sneakers..... Thanks to the Flinch Response and a good Tuck & Roll I made it out okay. :). Although, that is one of the reasons that I am getting rid of most of the plastic on the Duck.... cruising around town is more what I am looking for than dragging knees on the back roads. I'll post pics in a new thread when it is done.
