Unless I miss my guess, that was written and performed for 1100 springs originally and in this one, Vince Gill and Rodney Crowel.

I'll do everyone a favor and not post any of the '80s music I was listening to today.  :)
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. There was a concept album about the life of Jesse James that came out  in 1980. It was early in my musical development but at 11, I bought the thing and listened to it from my Startrek tricorder style cassette player ;). Anyway, it was a classic. Johnny, Waylon, Emmylou, Levon Helms, Charlie Daniels, a who's who of outlaw country. It was sort of a country opera with each singer taking a part and telling the story. My tape is long since dead. I ran across a few cuts though on youtube. I'll post them as I find them in no particular order. Here's Johnny Cash as Frank James. This was set post war, pre bank robbing.
FQ13 hope you enjoy, it really was a cool album, and the talent was amazing.

The best song on the album (featuring Emmy Lou of course). Give it 2 minutes and then you get the old fart chorus (one more shot just for old times, one last stand). It also has a warning about not wearing a gun in the house ;).

I was getting fed up with BO's BS on Libya. It made me remember how PO'd I was at W over Iraq (cause hey, BO learned nothing from that other than starting a war of choice in Middle East is a great idea ::)), and then there's Afghanistan, where no one  seems to know what "victory" means other than just saying "screw 'em and going home. Anyway, I found a Clip from my favorite band, the Asylum Street Spankers, singing "Stick a Yellow Ribbon on Your SUV". Its a nice stick in the eye to the hawks of both parties who don't seem to be able to tell us exactly how we dismount the bull we are riding and can't point out a tangible benefit of continued involvement. As Chris Rock said "If I invade Kentucky Fried Chicken,at least  wings are going to be cheap at my house". Where's my $1 a gallon gas? Just askin'.  :P

Anyway, this is funny as hell, and like all  Asylum Street Spankers' songs, well worth the $2 cover charge.  God I miss Austin! ;D

"Seamus Ennis plays a reel"

on the uileann pipes, a plumbers nightmare of an instrument if there ever was one. His mastery belies it's difficulty.
