Macon man accused of impersonating a police officer
By Becky Purser - bpurser@macon.com

A Macon man is accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer when he stopped a motorist in Houston County last week, a Houston County sheriff’s investigator says.
Borris G. Escoto-Salinas, 24, who was living at a Thomas Road address in Macon, has been charged with impersonating a police officer, Houston County Cpl. Glenn Goodman said Tuesday.
Escoto-Salinas is accused of pulling over a woman on Houston Lake Road and Van Drive about 2:30 p.m. April 6 in an unmarked, bright-silver Crown Victoria, Houston County sheriff’s Capt. Robert Clark said.
Escoto-Salinas activated a red flashing light after she had pulled over to see who was following her, Clark said.
Escoto-Salinas was wearing a black shirt, black pants and black boots. He did not have a badge nor did he have any type of police emblem on him but he was wearing a gun on his right hip and a magazine pouch on his left hip, according to Clark and the sheriff’s incident report.
Escoto-Salinas told the woman he was looking for a person driving a car that looked like her car before he released her, according to the report.
Escoto-Salinas was arrested Friday by Macon police and the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force after an anonymous tip that followed media reports surrounding the incident, Goodman said.
Escoto-Salinas also is suspected of stopping another motorist the first week of March at North Houston Road and Elberta Road after activating flashing lights, Goodman said.
Escoto-Salinas had some sort of “star” police embalm on a ball cap he was wearing, Goodman said.
The male driver asked why he was being pulled over and Escoto-Salinas told him he was going a little too fast, Goodman said.
However, the motorist replied that he was within the speed limit of 40 mph and was then released by the would-be police officer, Goodman said.
In both incidents, neither motorist was harmed nor was anything stolen, Goodman said.
Escoto-Salinas told authorities that he wanted to be a police officer, so he went out and purchased the car, a badge and a gun, Goodman said.
The 2001 Ford Crown Victoria believed to have been used during the stops was seized by authorities, Goodman said.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Always lock your car doors as soon as you get in. And don't stop for unmarked police cars. If I don't think it's a real cop car I'll drive to the police station and pull over there.

If you have a cell, and are getting pulled over by a unmarked car... that is the time to call the police. They will be able to tell you yes or no.  Also never stop in a dark area or on a bizzy road way if you can help it.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Hell, there are times when you shouldn't stop for a MARKED car.  I remember the story of a college girl in Kalifornia that got pulled over and murdered by an honest-to-God, real-life, on-duty CHP officer!

*****UPDATE*****

And I no sooner finish writing this than I find a new story about his parole bid being denied.

Quote
SAN DIEGO -- A former California Highway Patrol officer ,who strangled a 20-year-old San Diego State University student and dumped her body over a bridge after a 1986 traffic stop, was denied parole Thursday.

It was the second bid for freedom for Craig Peyer, now 57, who will not be eligible for parole again for another four years, according to Paul Levikow of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.

The California Board of Parole Hearings made its decision after an hours-long hearing at a state prison in San Luis Obispo.

The board determined that Peyer remains a threat to the community and hasn't availed himself of any of the self-help ideas that board members suggested the last time he was up for parole four years ago, according to Levikow.

Peyer was convicted in 1988 of first-degree murder in the death of Cara Knott and was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison.

Two of the victim's sisters and Supervising Deputy District Attorney Richard Sachs spoke at today's hearing at the California Men's Colony. One of her siblings also read an autobiography that Knott wrote for a college entrance application.

Knott called her parents the night of Dec. 27, 1986, and told them she was on her way home to El Cajon from her boyfriend's residence in Escondido.

When she didn't return home, the Knott family called authorities because their daughter had always been reliable and responsible.

They would later find out that Peyer, then a 36-year-old patrolman, followed their daughter down Interstate 15 and signaled for her to pull off the freeway at Mercy Road, a dark and isolated off-ramp.

Prosecutors said the coed became uncomfortable with Peyer and tried to escape, but he strangled her and dumped her body over a bridge.

Her father successfully pushed for legislation that made responding to a missing persons report a priority for law enforcement.

Sam Knott also worked to establish a memorial garden near the Mercy Road off-ramp where his daughter was killed. He died there seven years ago while tending to the garden of oak trees.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Damn straight. Turn on the dome light, call 911 and head for the stationn, or at least somewhere crowded. If it is a real cop, marked units will be there soon enough.
