lest we forget
« on: April 25, 2009, 02:59:27 AM »
They shall not grow old, As we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, And in the morning, We will remember them

lest we forget

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Anniversary?

Yea mate

Anzac Day is a national public holiday in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I

Anzac Day one of the most spiritual and solemn days of the year in Australia.
atarts off with the Dawn Service.   then there is the ANZAC March,  where the  veterans from all past wars, as well as current serving members of the ADF and Reserves, with allied veterans as well, and other uniformed service groups, are held in cities and towns nationwide

then it is off to the RSL Club or Pub for a Beer or 3 and a few games of Two up  ;D

these 2 Picks are from this morning  at the Dawn Service  at KingLake in Victoria ( where the tragic fires were this year)

A good mate of mine is in the group of guys doing the gun salute

I dips me lid to ya  Fellas

THANK YOU TO ALL sacrificed

I'll be sure to make a toast with my "beer or 3" today.

Horrendous fighting on the shores, staggering casualties, and brave, honorable men sacrificed all.

your right philw, lest we forget.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Australian gun laws may suck the big green wet one, but you've gotta love a country that not only remembers, but HONORS their military veterans for the sacrifices they made.  I sometimes think most of the folks in this country have forgotten.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

I'm truly glad your country honors their vets and doesn't remembers those days for their sales events at Sears or the car lot.

Here's to the vets, whomever and wherever they may be.   Salute!
