I don't know Tom. I've always thought SA machine pistols were just silly. All the weight and inaccuracy, none of the rate of fire. People love them though. I fired a friends tec-9. The hey, this is cool looking, quickly faded to, I think I'll shoot my Glock now. Maybe its just me.

Ruger doesn't want to copy everyone else's semi auto (1911)
How about THIS in .357 , 9mm and .45 ACP

Everything old is new again................. Ruger gave single actions a kick in the pants back in the 50's...might work again.......  ;D  ;D  ;D

Mauser Broomhandles? Just a fine functioning semi auto. Design works, has its dissenters just like the old Browning High Power. But both go bang.... after all these years.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Broomhandle Mauser would be a hell of a thing in CAS, now wouldn't it?

nope, Thier QC and handfitting have never been great.  1911 need both good QC and handfiting.   Its just they way they were designed.

I vote an inertia driven shotgun, ala Franchi or Benelli.  If Ruger came out with a short barrel version of one of those I would buy it.

The votes on a poll on "one of those other forums" say that the majority of us gun clingers want it to be a 1911:
