Kydex IWB holster question
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:15:44 PM »
I currently have a Comp-TAC CTAC holster. It is a good IWB holster, but I was wondering if any one had experience with Comp-TAC's Two O'Clock holster, (or other manufacturers' versions). I ask because for tucked carry, my experience has been that it needs to be carried toward the centerline. What I've run into is that the forward attachment point for the CTAC tends to rub the skin raw under the holster, even with two layers of clothes between skin and holster. I've tried it at different positions and angles of draw, but the problem still persists. Any thoughts?

I have been using a FIST K2 holster with snaps for a Glock 19, Glock 26, Sig 228 and Sig 239 for the last 6 years or so. Use them shooting IDPA most of the time except when I get a bad case of "gamer fever".
I have one for a full size 1911 but have not used it much because I don't get to DEFCON 5 very often.
Typically in the warmer weather have it next to my skin under a loose t-shirt or polo.
No rubs or pinches from it.  I always wear it behind the hip. Quality and delivery have been very good.
Between new and old coworkers I may know a dozen folks who wear them daily.

Wow, I use the Comp-Tac, Pro myself and love it.  I've never hear of someone's skin being rubbed raw with a Comp-Tac.  That's why they have the kydex backing plate to aleviate that pinching or rubbing problem.

Comp-Tac has another one they claim is THE most comfortable one.  It is the The Minotaur Holsters'  backed with leather over the kydex backing plate.  Maybe this would help.

Good luck.  Let us know how things turn out.   ::)

Actually, it's the front attachment point that does the rubbing. :-\ The front clip gets pushed into my hip, (or in front or behind the hip) depending on where it's placed. Now, when I wear it normal IWB instead of tucked, the problem goes away, whether I set it up for appendix or 4-5 o'clock carry.

Please note, this is not knocking Comp-Tac. The holster is very nice, and I still recommend them. Just want to carry without the rubbing...

Have you looked at crossbreed holsters?

+1 on the Crossbreed Holster recommendation! I've been carrying an XD9SC in it for over a year now, and it is the most comfortable holster I've ever worn. Check it out!

The price is quite reasonable as well.
