Thanks for the update, Chuck.

You both will be in my thoughts and prayers, over the next couple of months.

This certainly sounds like a problem with a God-sized solution. Amy's healers will do the best they can, guided by God's directions and plans for Amy, you and all of us. Never miss the opportunity to be a witness for His grace and love in your lives.

Amy, you and her doctors are on my prayer list, Chuck. Bless you all.

Hey Amy, Chuck!

Just keep going. We were there, we still are even with the bad thing gone quite some time ago.
Hope she goes shooting with you, puts one mind at ease. :)

Hey Chuck,

I just got to this thread. I'm sorry to hear about Amys diagnosis, but it is very  treatable.

The Mediport insertion is a minor procedure and it will make chemo delivery much easier. Hang in there during the standard pre-chemo testing. I am happy to hear about the fast track treatment and I believe that it shows that all of the prayers sent your way are already working.

Toms suggestion for Marinol, if needed, is an excellent one, as is his suggestion of fresh spinach salads.

You know how important prayer and positive outlook are and I know that both you and Amy have more than enough positive thinking and the prayers for you are limitless. It is very obvious that your support for each other is also limitless and that you have a beautiful bond.................that will also take you through anything. Just quit having reasons to prove it to each other after this one, OK? :)

If there is anything at all that we can do, don't hesitate to ask.

I am adding you to my churchs prayer list tomorrow and I will continue to keep you both in my prayers.

Hang in there and God bless you both.

Dave

Thanks everyone.

This is one of those things that allows us to reflect on the past, present, and future and see what we have to be thankful for. My family has been blessed many times, and hopefully it is God's will that we will continue to be blessed.
I know the next few months are not going to be smooth sailing, but in the grand scheme of things (or the big picture, if you will) I also know that there are many other people in the world worse off at this same time than we are.
This is just one of those speed bumps in life that takes a little more work to get over than normal. But once you get over it, you're a much stronger person than before. Like Amy always says, when you think you have it bad, just look around and you can always be humbled by someone that needs even more prayer and support.

We are both so grateful to have the emotional support of so many friends and family right now.
Amy knew that I was a member of this forum and had looked around on here a few times and knew I had a good many friends on here that I am fond of.
She was moved deeply when I told her how many of you all had expressed words of encouragement, prayers, and well-wishes for her (and the family). She was moved even more as she read this thread.

Again, thank you all for the prayers and emotional support.

Peg

Just an update:

So far, Amy is handling the treatment well.....they are giving really good anti-nausea medications.
The doctor said that we would be able to see a noticeable decrease in the swollen lymph nodes early on, because the chemo works aggressively, and he was right. After only one treatment, the swollen nodes in her neck and under her arm have decreased in size enough that you can actually see a difference.

She continues to feel tired (she said it feels like she's worked in the yard all day in the heat) but that is supposed to be normal, we were told.

Tomorrow marks day seven from her first treatment and begins the four day period when her white blood count is at its lowest point after the treatment. This is the time period when she really has to watch what she eats and who she is around due to the potential for infection or catching something from someone else. We go to the doctor tomorrow for follow-up blood tests and they have a 'booster shot' to help up the white count and maybe make her have more energy.

Then we get to start over again next week.

We know in our hearts that your prayers are working, and we both thank you all.

Peg,

When you go out to the Dr have your Lady wear a face mask to help prevent catching anything.  She may feel 'weird' about it but now is no time to take chance.

They told her she may have to do that as the treatment process goes on because it wears the immune system down so much, even with the booster shots.
We have a supply of masks just for that......

They even said that I might want to wear one when we come back...........................................
............................................................................but I don't think that has anything to do with my wife though.  :-\      ;D

Glad to hear about the improvement. Is Georgia one of the States that allows Medical Pot ? (the M word is to hard to spell  ;D ) The primary advantage claimed for it is it's anti nausea properties with no side effects (except munchies ).

Don't really know if it is or not..........don't think so.

But if the stuff does work, I have an outlaw b-i-l that might possibly be the least nauseated man in Georgia.   ;D
