Healthcare Bill---Letters to our congressmen
« on: July 31, 2009, 05:50:43 AM »
Got this from a friend of mine.  It's what he sent to his congressman about the Elder Euthanasia and Fascist Methodology To Wield Control Over American Families Healthcare Bill.  Post your own...this is going to be a while and it's good to share thoughts for all of those p-a-p-e-r letters we need to send the congressmen (emails don't carry near the weight of a good paper letter).   Did you guys ever think how you are going to have to tow the Marxist's/Fascist's line or be denied healthcare?? You say no...think IRS of healthcare and then tell me no.

Rep. Boren,

I sincerely appreciate your very prompt response to my letter.  I know that you have many things to attend to and that your time is often spoken for.

I do want to respond briefly to one or two items.

First, as I said in my previous letter, this action by Congress is ILLEGAL.  Article One of the Constitution of the United States specifically enumerates the powers of the Federal Government.  The so called “general welfare” argument often cited by corrupt demagogues is specious.  The man who wrote the Constitution, himself, James Madison, explained that the meaning of “general welfare” is restricted to the enumerated powers and nothing else.  Thomas Jefferson, who we might acknowledge as knowing something about the Constitution, concurred.

Every benefit that Congress gives to one group or individual comes by confiscating time or property from another.  In essence, with this kind of illegal legislation, Congress creates slavery.  In essence, the police powers of the Federal Government are used to confiscate my property (or time) so that others can live by the sweat of my brow.  When this occurs, the 13th Amendment (that abolishes slavery) is violated.  Therefore, by voting for any such act, Congress is not only violating Article One, Section Eight, but the 13th Amendment as well.  Every member of Congress has taken an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic.  Voting for an overtly illegal bill (such as that currently being pushed by House leadership), constitutes a violation of the oath of office.

Moreover, if any critical thinking is applied to the problem, Medicare and Medicaid themselves would be considered prima facie evidence of the ineptitude and corruption that results when government undertakes to enter the realm of charity (not to mention Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae).  It is incontrovertible that government interference is one of the primary reasons that insurance premiums are where they are.

Moreover, of the oft-cited 45M people without “healthcare…it is the lie of opportunistic leftists.  Of that number, probably 15MM are illegals, not even American citizens.  An additional large fraction is comprised of young people that do not want health insurance.  Another large percentage is the group of the ephemerally uncovered.  When you drill down to the truth, the number of Americans who want and genuinely are without insurance is ~6MM.  Surely, you can see the obvious problems created by these facts...   So, I should have my property confiscated to pay for illegals’ health insurance?

Does the Federal Government have the authority to impose “basic standards” on private insurance companies?  What are these “basic standards”?  Who decides?  The idea that government mandated standards will “lower the cost” is laughable.  Who in the Hell is worse at managing costs than the Federal Government?  I do not disagree that there are some changes for the better that could be made in our healthcare system, but I have heard no proposal that is not, at best, a venture into murky waters.

Frankly, the public is not clamoring for this.  In fact, lack of insurance does not translate into lack of healthcare.  I can’t tell you of anyone that has been denied treatment, but I can show you numerous examples of government health care that has resulted in deaths due to rationing (the inevitable result) or delays.  Go look at the Indian Reservations.  Check out the VA hospitals.

This is not about anyone’s health; it is about fascists gaining control over the population.  I plead with you not to join them, but to have the courage to stand up for the law of the land.  Here’s an idea, why not have all the liberals in America put together a fund from their own money to buy healthcare for these whose cause they supposedly champion.  Barney Frank gets more from Fanny Mae that I can make.  If they are so energized by the need, there is nothing stopping them from stepping up to the plate and writing the check.  Oh, but that would be their money wouldn’t it?  How about Congress being required to have the same system of healthcare as everyone else?  Oh, that would be inconvenient wouldn’t it?

Thank you very much for this opportunity to correspond with you.

Mr. X

From His Congresman:
Dear Mr. x:

Thank you for contacting me regarding health care reform. I appreciate hearing from you about this important and timely matter.

I strongly believe that our country has the best medical care in the world. Unfortunately, exploding costs have made the current system out of reach for many of my constituents. We as a nation spend $2.5 trillion, or 17% of our GDP, on health care every year. And yet, an estimated 46 million Americans remain uninsured, and untold numbers are underinsured. Even those satisfied with their coverage must pay an ever-increasing portion of their income without seeing much improvement in their access or care. From a fiscal standpoint, government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid make up 20% of the federal budget, a figure expected to rise dramatically as the number of retirees grows. This has quickly become an issue that can longer be ignored.

Reform that allows more Americans to find affordable coverage while containing costs is far from easy. A proposal favored by many on the left is the so-called "public option" - a government plan that would compete with private insurers. While this system does not involve the government actually administering healthcare, which I am firmly against, I am still concerned it would lead to rationed care.

There are several alternatives to the public option that Congress is considering as well.  The Healthy Americans Act, for example, would create a system of state-based "exchanges."  These would not directly compete with private insurers, but instead impose basic standards that all insurers must meet.  This bill would also mandate that all individuals purchase some form of coverage, which could lower costs by greatly increasing the insurance pool and spreading out risk.  This bill has some bipartisan support, and supporters claim it would not add to the federal deficit.

A wide range of other proposals have also been introduced, from single-payer systems to more conservative measures sponsored by Republicans.  I believe that the consequences of inaction have the potential to be greatly harmful to our physical and economic well being.  At the same time, I will not support ill-considered reform just so Congress can say it has done something.  I promise to keep a watchful eye on all legislation that comes before the House of Representatives and always keep what is best for our district and nation in mind.

Rest assured I will continue working to ensure that Americans can afford to provide health care for their families. Again, thank you for contacting me, and please keep in touch.

Respectfully Yours,

Dan Boren

Sent to BO, both NH Senators and my Rep.

The primary problem with Americas current health care is a lack of Dr.s and Nurses.
All the money in the world can not solve that problem in less than 8-10 years.
All this program will do is increase Govt. meddling in yet another industry which will make the job even less appealing and cause the problem to get worse.
Obama and his communist cronies do not care about "improving" the economy, or health care, or anything else. They only care about increasing the power of the Federal Govt.
To quote Rahm Emmanual "Never let a good crises go to waste".
The last time the Public Servants ignored the "tea party" protests of the citizens who paid their wages (1773) the results got ugly.
It would behoove the current Congress to review their history.

Thanks Rastus, great work.

Fortunately, both Texas Senators and my Congressman are staunchly opposed to Obamacare. I hope that everyone with representatives that are in favor or are on the bubble will send the letter that you provided.

Thanks again!!!

Yor're right tombo.
My wife left the Medical field in '92 and many, many others have for the same reasons. Hillary told us it was the greedy evil Doctors. Today we're told it is the greedy evil Insurance companies. Between then and now people like Kennedy have chipped away with bills here and bills there to erode what was once a good system. Funny how Kennedy got the best of care but that's what Democrats do, the rules are for you and not them. The bad thing is that the quota babies will emerge as our new Doctors - them and foreign students. Welcome to hell.

Here's the reply I got  from my socialist scumbag Rep.

August 3, 2009

Dear Mr. Bogan:

Thank you for contacting my office and sharing your thoughts with me regarding health care reform.

Our health care system is broken, and millions of families are suffering.  In our First District of New Hampshire, 67,000 have no health insurance at all.  Small businesses cannot afford to offer insurance to their workers.  A recent poll conducted by the Small Business Majority showed that only 48% of New Hampshire small businesses offer health insurance, and 76% said they are struggling to do so.  We know that in 2007, three out of ten young adult Americans were not insured because the premiums were too high or their employer did not offer insurance.  When I entered the workforce, insurance was easily available and affordable, but that is no longer true.  Premium costs have skyrocketed.  Insurance costs for small businesses have increased 129% since 2000, and their employees pay an average of 18% more in premiums than employees in big businesses.  That has forced businesses, individuals, and families to go without insurance.  Americans pay more than twice as much for health care than countries who offer universal health care, but we are not the healthiest and millions lack coverage.

According to a recent article in Foster's Daily Democrat entitled "Area Ambulance Drivers Seeing More Uninsured," local ambulance drivers and firefighters have seen increased calls because people can no longer afford insurance to see a doctor.  One firefighter stated that these people are not just the unemployed-they are middle-class, working people.  The article reports that often when paramedics arrive at peoples' homes, the patients will refuse to go anywhere because they cannot afford to pay the ambulance fee or be treated at the hospital.

Recently, the three Committees that have jurisdiction over the health care bill in the House of Representatives [Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce, and Education and Labor] unveiled a health care reform bill that will increase health care coverage and affordability.  If health care reform legislation is enacted, the First District of New Hampshire stands to reap significant gains.  Individuals would gain access to high-quality, affordable health insurance, small businesses could receive tax credits to provide health insurance coverage, seniors would avoid the doughnut hole in Medicare Part D, families could escape bankruptcy due to unaffordable costs, and health care providers would be reimbursed for uncompensated care.

The legislation, as introduced, creates a Health Insurance Exchange, a transparent and functional marketplace for qualified individuals and small employers to comparison shop among private and public insurers.  Within the Exchange there will be a new public option that will create a new choice in the system.  The public option will be subject to the same market reforms and consumer protections as private plans in the Exchange.  At a time when health care premiums are soaring, the public option will force insurance companies to compete for business.

This bill also reduces the growth in health care spending.  It invests in prevention and wellness measures, and increases access to primary care.  It also stops insurance companies from denying coverage due to preexisting conditions, and reforms Medicare and Medicaid.  These savings will help families, employers, and taxpayers.

I support the principle of health care reform, and I support a public option.  However, under this plan, if you are happy with your present insurance, you can keep it.  As a member of the Education and Labor Committee, I am closely monitoring the progress we are making towards reform.

Again, thank you for contacting my office. It is a privilege to serve you in Washington.

Sincerely,

Carol Shea-Porter

Dear Mr. Bogan:

The legislation, as introduced, creates a Health Insurance Exchange, a transparent and functional marketplace for qualified individuals and small employers to comparison shop among private and public insurers.  Within the Exchange there will be a new public option that will create a new choice in the system.  The public option will be subject to the same market reforms and consumer protections as private plans in the Exchange.  At a time when health care premiums are soaring, the public option will force insurance companies to compete for business.

1. A public (government) option that is not required to break-even let along make a profit will eventually kill all other forms of health insurance.  Once you kill private insurance what happens to all of the competitors to the public option?  What will keep the government plan in check?

2. The current insurance companies already compete for business and services.  If ObamaCare was about competition you could easily open the flood gates to competition if you let insurance companies be national rather than regulated by each state.  It is proven that vigorous competition improves quality and reduces costs.  Of course you really don’t want competition, you want the government to take over healthcare.

This bill also reduces the growth in health care spending.  It invests in prevention and wellness measures, and increases access to primary care.  It also stops insurance companies from denying coverage due to preexisting conditions, and reforms Medicare and Medicaid.  These savings will help families, employers, and taxpayers.

3. No Politian has yet provided any specifics on how ObamaCare would reduce the growth of healthcare spending.  Why? Because it would reveal the truth that you need to ration care to reduce costs.  Do you really believe that current health plan providers’ are not concerned with WELLNESS?  If you increase access to medical coverage spending will increase!  If you want insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions pass a law to make them.  If you want to reform Medicare then do it nothing is stopping you - its a government program so you control it.

4. You and your fellow Politians couldn’t even design something as simple as “Cash-for-Clunkers” properly.  How in the world can we trust you to re-engineer our healthcare system?
