Maddow on Love for Guns: 'I Just Don't Think We Should Be Allowed to Bring Them Home'

Rachel Maddow, gun lover? Well, sort of - and with some strings attached, of course.

The MSNBC host of the "The Rachel Maddow Show" appeared on Jimmy Fallon's Aug. 31 NBC show and told the host about her first date - at a shooting range.

"My first date with my girlfriend Susan was at a shooting range," Maddow said. "That was awesome. It was ladies' day on the range. Her sister is a lifetime NRA member and she was organizing ladies' day on the range at her gun club. So we did it. We shot AR-15s and we threw tomahawks and we did archery, pistols and skeets."

However, Maddow's gun enthusiasm goes beyond romantic rituals with her girlfriend. She also bragged of making "liberals shoot guns."

"When I had my radio show - that was my full time job, before I was on TV, I used to bring all of my producers to the shooting range in Manhattan," Maddow said. "There's one down on 20th Street and that's what we'd do to unsettle them when they started working for me."

But NRA members shouldn't get too excited. Maddow isn't a closet Second Amendment enthusiast. No, in fact she views guns as amusement devices that should be regulated to the point that you're only allowed to shoot them at shooting ranges, galleries or gun clubs.

"I like making liberals shoot guns - I just don't think we should be allowed to bring them home," Maddow said. "It's like I mean you go to the carnival you know, like the roller coasters - it's fun. But that doesn't mean you get one to come home with. Doesn't mean you get to do your own home roller coaster - just leave it there, it's a game."

ITS A GAME YOU STUPID BUTCH LIBERAL? IT A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT!!!!!

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Maybe I'm wrong, but there may be hope for her. It should not be too hard for her to understand that if we told people it was OK to read newspapers, but had to leave them at the store, that would be a violation of their constitutional rights; I think she might get that.

Manlier too. But it is hard to hate a pickup driving, labrador owning woman who fishes. I think there's hope for her.

No real hope for her.

Just the same old typical Liberal that can't (or won't) apply normal logic or reason to a given subject........just her own twisted viewpoint of what would make our society into the Great Utopia that she has conjured in her own mind.

Using FullAuto's Newspaper analogy, to a degree:  If you told her that you could only read books in a library and were not allowed to own books, or have them in your home, that would be a travesty......trampling on our rights.........but in her liberal mind, there would be no logical connection to her stated opinion of gun ownership.

Now I'll go look for 98 more pennies............  ;)
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I'm of the opinion that it is pretty much a waste of time to to try to convince people of the error in their ways.  My thought is not to explain or apologize for what I do and to marginalize the argument of the antis.  It may not be the polite thing to do...but polite got us where we are today.  This is not to say I will not engage in conversation, but when intelligent conversation is not the aim but instead ridicule of gun owners, there is no explantion, no apology.

I know that's not what you are talking about here....but I just had to rant.   :)
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Isn't this Maddow the same whack job that was in NYC and claimed she was attacked by right-wing fanatics? And then it turned out she just stumbled and fell on her own?
