They won't though. Because if they do, you are right, our economy would collapse and the $ would be worth more as toilet paper, considering that the majority of China's assets are tied up in US treasury notes and we are their #1 trading partner it would take THEIR economy down with it which would also take down the Communist leadership. They are having enough trouble keeping the lid on the various anti Govt groups in GOOD economic times. They realize that it would be impossible if people became desperate.

Since America, is such a "good" customer of China, they will bide their time, and let us dig our selves deeper into a hole, (thanks BHO),

than utilize leverage to get what they want, as a majority shareholder. It's right out of Trump's Art of the Deal..

I agree with Tom.  It does them no good to collapse our economy.  They need us to buy their stuff.  In addition, if our economy collapses so will the rest of the world's economy.  Our economies are too inter-related.  The only groups that would gain in a world wide economic collapse are the Islamic jihadists.

Thanks, Interesting reading the WSJ write up, I'll have to down load his 2 e books. The jist of what he says is in line with my own thinking, I've never been a fan of the Chinese. But He mentions one thing that reinforces my argument, Their strategy comes from the "Warring States Period" in Chinese history. That was the Era of Sun Tzu, who said something to the effect that it is fine to win battles but it is better to achieve victory with out having to fight.
As it stands now there are threats closer to China that we could exploit, They have their own Muslim minority, Vietnam, N Korea, Taiwan, and Russia for neighbors and they stand to gain more through peaceful commercial relations with us. Before they act against us I would expect to see them gain control of the Siberian natural resources, especially oil, and divest a large portion of their investment in US debt.

China gain control of Russian oil???  The Russian oil is our last hope if cut off from the middle east.  They were saying on the news yesterday Russia is planning and preparing for this, and predicts oil costs to us to be aproximately $400 a barrel.

Not a real big surprise that Russia is looking to screw us on oil prices, look at how Gazprom has been hosing countries like Georgia and Ukraine the last several winters.
Add to that the facts that Russia was never a friend of the US and is now controlled by former KGB agents and Gangsters and draw your own conclusions about the fall of communism and the end of the Cold War.
(Hint, English Intelligence returned Russia to their list of Targeted nations YEARS ago  )
