Savage 110 FCP-K .300 Win. Mag. Pics As Promised

I did my best guys. I really need a new digital camera. These were taken with my Sony Cybershot. It doesn't have the pixel quality I would like, but on the plus side I'm not burning up a ton of bandwidth on the forum. I picked up a nice Harris 6"-9" Bi-Pod this morning from Cabela's. The one I have is too long for a heavy caliber rifle. The one thing I don't care for on this new Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical Scope is they have gone to green numbers on the adjustment knobs. It's not bad, and I'm not trying to nit pick, but the white numbers were much easier to see in lower light conditions.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the way this rifle turned out. I really can't say enough good about the Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical 5-15X Scope. I honestly can't come up with a better one that gives as much "bang for the buck". The Burris Signature Zee Rings mated up with the steel Burris Extreme Tactical Bases for just the right height. As you can see, the Butler Creek front Cap just clears the barrel. I bore sighted it about 10" high at 100 yards. To accomplish this I used a +.020 and a -.020 offset insert in the rear ring, and a -.010 and a +.010 offset insert in the front ring. Between the canted downward angle, along with the total elevation adjustment I have in the scope, along with the excellent Mil-Dot System, I should be able to hold dead on at very long ranges. This I'm really looking forward to! Anyway, for now it's all up to my handloads which I'll start loading tomorrow. It should be cooling off here soon, and I can't wait to get this thing lit up!   Bill T.

Here is a direct comparison of the 2 different Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical models. The newest one with green numbers, (bottom photo), and the last one I mounted on my Savage 10-FP in .308. Not too much difference in the photos, but the green numbers look a little softer.  Bill T.

And beyond. A 200 Grain Sierra Matchking zeroed at 100 yards will put it -306.94 at 1,000 yards. This is with a muzzle velocity of 2,800 FPS. Easily obtainable with 70.6 grains of IMR 4831 in the .300 Winchester Magnum in a 24" barrel. 10" high at 100 yards will easily close up that distance to a more manageable calculation.   Bill T.

I should also add this gun has a 1 in 10" twist rate. This is good for up to 220 grain bullets. I'm very tempted to purchase a box of the excellent Berger 210 Grain VLD Bullets. I have heard nothing but good about these bullets at long range.  Bill T.

Does the OD green ammo holder (if it has a proper name I'm just to ignorant to know what it is!) move at all when you get a good cheek weld on it?  It looks realy handy!  I'd just be afraid of it leading to a difference in shooting position between shots.

The model I have on my rifle is a Blackhawk. They are available at most well stocked tactical gun shops. They provide a nice cheek weld because the side opposite the shell holder is a faux suede. It holds your cheek really well when compared to the slippy plastic of the stock.  Bill T.
