Good evaluation.  I don't think the current scum has enough sense to put together a conspiracy of any real depth...I think it is a loose confederation of dunces, i.e. congressman, bureaucrats, etc., so self-engrossed in their own personal wealth and opinion that they are seeking only others who of like ilk.  Now...the people financing them...perhaps a different story.  I think what we have here are a bunch of lemmings...with us in tow.

I'm investing heavily in precious metals. It's the only way to go. The dollar WILL go South, thanks to our fearless leader.

I'm with you here.  Now, go another step...what happens on the other side?  You've preserved some of your sweat equity, brought it from one economy into another.  Now what?  This is something I need to ponder as the general assumption of the masses of survival minded people has been that once everything goes down the tubes it will re-emerge as it was before.  Albeit a bit slow and having to recover.

I do not, however, subscribe to the notion that it must return to the "good old economy" we once knew.  How should we prepare if we are faced with a socialist/communist economy where "We The People" are barely allowed to live whilst our rulers thrive in luxury?  How can we make an extra bean or two by bringing something over from our current economy to one that reflects the perpetual despair of European society?  Perhaps even in the face of being deprived the private ownership of one's land and one's home?
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.

Rastus, think Viet Cong, we fight until we gain LIBERTY, we don't role over just because some socialist says he taking over.
The Irish fought Britain for several centuries.
The economy on the other side of disaster will be freer than any time in the last 100 years because it will be more cottage based. during the bad times people who can produce things their neighbors need , will, their excess will be used as trade goods to acquire things from further away. That will continue to be the case until a STABLE, hard currency becomes available.

When the economy collapses (and it will), when inflation becomes triple digit (and it will), when a million dollars U.S. is the cost of a pound of ground beef, you'll be glad to be invested in gold, silver and platinum. They will always be worth their weight in the international marketplace and they will buy their weight in inflated dollars.

Silver is probably the best bet for actual use, as it will be more likely that people can make change.
