.17 HMR
« on: September 21, 2009, 09:41:19 PM »
Hey all, I got the CT Scan results from the doc and he says I'll likely die from old age and not this particular mess. I went and got me a couple of new guns to celebrate. One is a .17 HMR Marlin with a 3x12 x 40 scope. This is a cherry popper for me as I have never shot a .17 before. I am here to tell ya, that thing will get ass for sure. My wife wanted to try it out as soon as I got it home. She nailed a bullseye 8 times out of a at 50 yards. Her group was tight enough that it would have been the same at 100. Makes a man proud to see his wife do that. I got some V-max 17 grainers to try out. I reckon the rabbits around here will have a heck of a time dodgiing these things. Any of you tried the .17. Oh, the other gun is a Savage 30-06 with a little 3x9 Bushnell. It's a bit older, wood stock, with Williams iron sights as well. Did these come with these sights, or are these added ya reckon.

First off, glad you're OK.

My first center-fire rifle was a Savage 110 in 30-06. I bought it new back in the late 80's. It also had the Williams sights on it from the factory. Wish I still had it. It was one of the few guns I've ever got rid of.

Hope you and the wife enjoy your new acquisitions.

I got a Marlin 17VS when they first came out.  It is a tack driver and has taken many a squirrel.  My wife has taken it from me now and I have seen her do some amazing shots with it.  I do not think I am going to get it back..  :)

congrats on the news and on the purchases.
I helped a mate sigh in his (marlin .17hmr) scope on his (he was hopless). Cheap gun, cheap scope 1 hole at 50yrds  :o
If there would be one thing about this gun I would change apart from the stock ewwwww, would be the woeful trigger.
Even though the pull is worse than a Octonarian hooker it can still shoot unreal  ???
