National Write Your Congressman
« on: October 30, 2009, 11:28:07 AM »
What does anyone know of the group National Write Your Congressman?

Two gentlemen were in my office late yesterday taking a short poll:  A few yes and no questions, but allowed for explanation;  They also asked which two were my areas of highest concern off a list of about 20; and they included many written items to go along with my answers.  Their claim is that this information will be sent to my Congressman, Mr. Waltz.

They claim to be non-partisan, and they did a very good job of asking but not leading or expressing their approval or disapproval in any way.  It was one main spokesman, the younger of the two, and support from an older gentleman.  I was able to detect a little from the eyes of the older with a couple of my comments.

Of course this ended up with a request for membership ... not cheap.  I'm always concerned when it is only a dollar and change per day.  I explained that I was interested but not going to join today, and I asked for info to remind me and asked for them to contact me toward the end of the year.

Anybody ever heard of them or know of them?  I have not had time to dig in beyond just going to their site, but will be looking and willing to listen to anything out there.

Thanks!

I have not heard of these guys.  I went to their Web site and found these two hypocritical quotes...

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House (D-CA)
…there is no voice more eloquent to a member of Congress than that of his or her own constituent. Part of what makes our country great is the beautiful diversity of our citizens and the diversity of our views. But if our citizens do not express their views, they deny the national debate the benefit of their experiences and opinions. Thank you for your work with the National Write Your Congressman initiative.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, House Majority Leader (D-MD)
Make no mistake, when constituents write their elected officials to express their support for, or opposition to, legislation these opinions are taken into serious consideration before votes are cast. I congratulate National Write Your Congressman for encouraging citizens to become more actively involved with their government.

Ask for their funding info.

If they won't give it or just say 'from our members' I would run.  Most places like that have hidden funding and usually lean (fall over) to the left.
