I HAVE NO LUCK!

I had just finished modifiations to my Marlin in 45-70 with ALL the same features and the new rifle came out.

My rifle shoots very well, easy to clean and care for and kicks on one end and kills on the other.

Get the new Marlin. It works.

Marlin's are from what I've seen (three friends have them) very good shooters.  I like the side eject to, the one Winchester I've ever shot had top eject, it droped two HOT shells down the back of my shirt.   >:(

Any model 1894 did that prior to 1964.  Those are the ones you want to buy, even if you never mount a scope.  They are of much better quality than those that came afterward.

Damn straight. They are amazing guns. I sold mine because my storage unit was not as "de-humidified" as they claimed. It had a lot of surface rust and needed reblueing. I didn't need the gun badly enough to justify the cost and basically gave it away to a good home. The thing is though, I recently shot a mid-eighties version of the carbine and was shocked. It wasn't even close. Those old .44 mags, while a little picky about what ammo they like to feed are worth twice as much as a new one IHMO.  If I were to look for a lever gun for thick brush, they would be the first thing I looked at.

Isn't this new Marlin basically a production version of some of the stuff Wild West Guns puts out? Not that I'm complaining...... ;D

Would be a nice Tactical lever action.....

Lever guns are coming back BIG TIME and in some very strange circles.

First, as a tactical weapon they are fast and accurate AND can be recharged while in action.

Secondly, they do not carry the stigma of the AK or AR with the public. IT's A COWBOY GUN. This is a big deal with cops and the public.

Lastly, they carry many shots. While not mag fed most will carry 8 to 12 rounds. Plenty for most work.

I keep a Marlin .357 rifle beside the bunk and it really shoots well.

I went to take a look at one of those and ended up getting a good deal on a standard guide gun with ghost ring sights added. It was used, but it was spotless and half the price of the new sbl.
