China will prolly be financing the movie.  It'll hafta be somebody else.   Zombies?  Oh, wait, that's been done.   Al Queda moles all suddenly quit their convenience store jobs around the country and and converge on Chicago.   Our heroes quickly and quietly evacuate all the good guys from Chicago (there must be a few - Ditka, Butkus...Siegel, Schwall...) then let the mole brigade blow the whole damned place to hell.  Roll the credits!

I like that!

Besides, Ditka, Butkus and others have all left, like me.

#1  Use your damn imagination and make your own movie.  Don't corrupt a good movie with a good story line with a remake.  If you don't have the imagination it took to play in the sandbox in kindergarten, do Red Dawn - The second time around, or Red Dawn - We didn't learn, or Red Dawn - We are seriously F**ked, ...

#2  As long as you are doing it, make it a true reflection of the current times - A government drunk on prestige and asleep at the switch, and terror sleeper cells destroying us from within.

But, don't corrupt a good movie that like any piece of good "literature" supplies more than just entertainment!

Good points, M58.   First off, the name would hafta be different.  If the commies already own half the U.S. it couldn't be "Red" Dawn, could it?  Unless the enemy is us, of course, but "Red" is still too yesterday, as the kids say.  Maybe Repo Dawn, as FQ suggests?  I still like the assault on Chicago idea.  Daley's Doom?    Anyways, if Powers Boothe is still alive and is in it, I'll go see it.

The last Die Hard came close, though rather rediculous in execution.

Our electric grids are SO fragile that anyone making a concerted effort could cripple this country, quite litterally, at the flip of a switch!  How quickly we've become so utterly dependant on power that we could not function, period!

No need to flip a switch, Timothy, but your post reminded me of One Second After, the novel in which our enemy uses an electromagnetic pulse to disable nearly every electric device in the country.  If the movie people want to make the Red Dawn of the 21st century, they should base it on One Second After

For #2, just make a movie of Rawles' Patriots with terrorist sleeper cells thrown in for good measure.
