johncasey4: I need to take a step back here and apologize for my rude behavior. This was your intro thread and I hijacked it. Because your thoughts and mine differ on the NRA. Instead what I should of done as I have with other new members was to extend my hand and said welcome. What I don't want happening  is LETS GET TOGETHER AND BURN THIS GUY AT THE STAKE mentality. If my mother was still alive she would cuffed along side of the head and asked me what happened to my manners. So with that said I'd like to go back to 1/11 and stick out my hand and say welome DRTV. Oh! by the way Rob P post had no influence on mine. This was bothering me since last night just after I turned my flamethrower off.   Jeff

Jeff,
That was very cool of you.  Thanks. I never intended to cause such an eruption of hate and discontent. Someone asked a question and I answered it honestly knowing that when follow on questions came that it would stir up the hornets nest.

I won't ask people to not challenge my way of thinking, I have been wrong before and will be wrong again. It takes someone shinning a light on the incorrectness that allows us to change. Lord knows I steped into Valhalla with all sorts of notions on how to do things. Rob saw this and challenged me to explain the reasons behind my theories. When I did, we found some big deficiencies and I changed. This, more than anything taught me to be critical of my reasoning behind things and to demand logic out of other's arguments.

Somewhere in there however is a childs curiosity, so I desire to learn and to be better but at the same time am critical of all the info I take in... It can be tough.

Either way, thanks for the apology, I accept it graciously and look forward to more conversations in the future.

The following quotes from JohnCasey4 have a purpose, it will take a minute to get to it,

I am none the worse for not joining.  When it becomes mandatory for firearms instructors to join... I will probably break the law.

the biggest reason for my lack of support is hidden there in your comment, they are a lobbyist group.  In my opinion (worth exactly nothing), lobbyist, regardless of what they fight for, are the equivalent of the serpent in the Garden of Eden, and the second biggest cause of the corruption of our government,

So you pay someone to go to Washington and stump for you, and so they get the job done this year... great, good for you.  It is a bandaid, just like all of this bailout money that they are giving away.  I won't support it, end of story.

, what does campaigning support?  Yeah, nothing but a candidate or a cause, neither of which is likely to save the Good Ole' U S of A from becoming a socialistic ses pool.

OK, now to get to my point, since by your own words you do not support the idea of protecting our rights through the middle ground of working the system, terrorizing the terrorists as it were, what method do YOU suggest we use to protect our integrity from associating with the likes of lawyers politicians and other low creatures. (I'm not being a smart a$$ here, read my other posts and will find I really do think they are scum.)
The options seem to be
A)  bend over and take it like sheep.  Or,
B) drag the sob's out and hang them

A- doesn't work for me,  B has that whole "Valley Forge" aspect, but even if it were not -8 degrees tonight, WHO do you propose to lead it ? Needs national recognition, solid credentials, and charisma.  Nugent has recognition, but to people not involved in hunting and shooting he lacks the RECOGNIZED credentials, while his up front no BS approach appeals to me it's not exactly charisma. Selleck ? He has recognition and charisma, again, out side the shooting community his POLITICAL credentials are largely unknown. Ollie North ?  Others ? As I say, It takes someone with NATIONWIDE recognition, and credibility. Someone who would be seen as acting in the best interests of ALL citizens, not a nut like LaRuche, or a perceived "religious zealot" like say, Oral Roberts, or Bigots like Aryan Nations or the KKK.
This question is for ALL Veterans, not just JohnCasey4, We swore to defend the Constitution from ALL threats, foriegn, AND DOMESTIC. There was no time limit on that oath, no qualification of "till my enlistment is up". It's time to perform the second part of the duty. Who would be worthy of following ?
As I have said before, without the second amendment the rest of the Constitution is no more than toilet paper, The Soviet Union had a constitution but it included no mechanism for the citizens to enforce it, we see how THAT worked out.
So if we are not going to use the system  (which is not what is broke) to oust the anti Rights, one worlders(who ARE the problem) What do we do ?

In PM's with JohnCasey4 I asked him if I have miss understood his meaning and  inadvertently taken these things out of context.
I asked him to clarify my misunderstanding here as I think others may have misconstrued  some of his comments as well.

Used to go to St. Augustine-Daytona areas three or four times a year. I'd get liquored-up and forget to put on sunscreen and/or fall asleep on the beach.
Was not a problem when I was at my 'fighting weight'. Now I'd just have to worry about PETA trying to roll me back into the ocean.

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible.
