Title says it. I got a gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods, which I will certainly use to buy a box of ammo. 8) My German Shepherd got 3 brand new unchewed, unslobbered Tennis balls for Christmas. ALWAYS a hit with him. I figure he deserved it cause he's probably behaved the best out of all of us this year.
-
Remote start for my Pickup. But that is just the Big item.. I'm sure a few boxes of ammo and targets will be in the stocking when I get to the parents house for Christmas on Saturday
-
I don't know yet, but its in a big box and is about 70 lbs. Had to get it out of the car for the wife.
-
Well I got a Blue Tooth unit for the car from the missus and kids plus a few other odds and sodds, however I brought myself a tactical charger stock and a WD tv live ;)
-
Nothing big for me this year (kids got all the big stuff), but the best gift, other than the ornament my 8 year old made for me, :) is a new Case Trapper pocket knife. I lost mine several years ago and never replaced it. Thanks Honey! ;D
-
Granddaughters got me a bipod for my .308, the daughter and son-in-law may had something to do with it :)
-
Lots of gifts that the kid made at school.
My wife and I really don't get each other much...we tend to get what we want when we want it.
Here's what I got myself for Christmas.

Not much for me (typical) but the 3-year old made out like a bandit. Lots of My Little Pony stuff (for her, not me - I don't need a pink pony in a diaper crawling across the floor saying something like "I'm going to get you!!" - I have enough issues in my life. But the precious little girl seems to like it ;D ).
I did get Dillenger (Ben Johnson, Warren Oates) on DVD and a Barska 25-75 spotting scope. I also had picked up some silver rounds earlier this year. One with a koala bear for the little girl, another with the scales of justice and Liberty head for my older son.
With unemployment, Christmas is a bit thin this year - except for the little one. Else there would have been a Sig 238 under the tree as well for me.

Wife and I are huddled in a warm house with two dogs and a cat keeping us company. Several phone calls from a very lonely mother-in-law, and those that were supposed to make it that didn't.
Today we are just enjoying each other, and will celebrate next week when daughter is home. I'm sure we'll do some small things for each other (even though we said we wouldn't), but we are looking at a warm trip in February ... Which has her looking at some bike trading, cuz we're talking of hauling bikes when we go ;D Will wait and see, but ever since the fire we don't get to worked up over "stuff."
-
I got a lump of coal. :(
-
AR lower with a Spikes tactical receiver engraved with the Marine Corps Emblem !
Hooded sweat shirts and T's DVD's and a $50 Amazon gift card.
-
Best gift was having my son here with me. He made out like a bandit, cash, gift cards, Red Head thermals and socks for N.C. I did however, pull a kpr and get myself a little something,....

I'm like Charlie Brown. I just can't win. ;D

Well for starters the Jeep is going up an 1 and a quarter thanks to JKS and my sweetheart. Got a scarf made from my families tartan (Lamont). Some other good stuff but I think the best part was just spending time with friends and family.

Was at a gun show last month, and ran across a 1928 mfg, Remington 12A, .22 pump rifle. So I called the wife and asked for it for Christmas. Imagine my surprise when she said yes. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but off work all next week, so I can't wait. ;D

found out what was in that box

A book on the War of Northern Agr...I mean the War between the States and a harmonica.
I guess I'll have to learn to play it.
-
"A BASEMENT FULL OF WATER AND RISING!" Had to call for help which I don't like to do. Really not sure what the problem with the sump pump is but it took 2 to keep up. I'm lucky to have someone to call!
Merry Friggen Christmas

3 of the most common things that cuase flooded basments are:
improper drainage around your house.( every thing from back up gutters to sloping the wrong way)
leaking pipes. I see you are in ohio, I would not be shocked at all if you had a pipe froze.
leaking thru breachs in the foundation, normally its around a pipe.
-
It would not surprise me to find out that trying to keep his basement dry was how Holland invented the submarine.

PS Which Book ?
A Civil War Treasury by Albert Nofi . A lot of short articles on the people and lore. So far so good
I'm a damn yankee: born in the North, live in the South. Never going back.

That beats my leaking hot water heater on Sunday. Sorry to hear about that.

Better be careful, FQ will accuse you of preparing for when you are old enough for Florida ;D
Sounds like a good book.

Florida---Where America goes to die.
Not exactly, we're just holding on to premise that this is STILL an American State. NOT a Central or South American Annex...
Plus it's 78 degrees at Christmas,... :P

Thanks for asking. No, nothing damaged but it is a problem no one seems to know how to fix. Also when power goes out during a heavy rain the problem is worse. Have a generator for power but I have to be home to start it. The power didn't go out, the sump pump just couldn't handle that much water this time.

Exchange some PM's with TAB, we may think he's a dork on some subjects, but he DOES know his business.

Richard,
You may have to install a larger pump to handle the additional head pressure, especially if you're pumping the water UP before out. As the pumps seals age and wear, their ability to handle added load in relation to the distance the fluid needs to be pumped is reduced. Add the height to pump it out of the basement (if you have to) and it will really strain the pump. Going bigger will always be better.
-
I had a pump installed many years ago when I lived on the old glacial lake bed of Lake Michigan - the water table was never more than 2 feet under the basement floor. 20 years later I upgraded the system with a marine battery backup system, and the guy who removed the pump said it was still good as new - stainless steel case and all - it was a sewage pump. 2" discharge, moved mas quantities of water, but was running nearly all the time in a rain, and could not handle the water through the floor in a heavy downpour - or when the power went out. Lost lots of stuff, went to the battery backup, the floor never got more than wet after that.
-
Because it was designed for sewage, it's designed to pump more solids and therefor has the ability to pump enourmous amounts of fluids at higher head pressures. The 2" diamter is huge for pumping water, the pump must have been pretty good size, maybe a diaphragm type? On second thought, probably not. Diaphragm pumps usually run on air...

My father in law in Baltimore has a basement sump that was very underrated in heavy rains. It was 120VAC and if the power went out he was a flooded basement.
I talked him into a small inverter/charger, 3000W that has a small contactor for a seamless transfer to the inverter if the power goes out. Normally closed circuit, until the power goes out, opens and transfers to the inverter, creating 120VAC for the sump.
Inverters are used all over the world with inconsistent primary power. Just some golf cart batteries, preferably 24VDC, can create a reserve capacity to run his now 3500gph sump even in a heavy rain with no primary power.
No basements here in S. Fl., but boats, and hurricanes are a great resource with no generator needed.
Sounds like your pump is plenty big.

Digital Camcorder, poofy camo house shoes (from my granddaughter) Tales of the Gun DVD set, and heart burn from grazing all day. All in all a great Christmas with all my kids and all my grandkids. Now if I can only figure out how to download all that video I shot today.

I got bills.
Somehow everyone gets "stuff" but I get the bills.
It's O.K. though, after they're paid I'm taking myself shopping. ;D

sounds like you have either a leak in the foundation or poor drainage around your house ( or both) If you can take a bunch of pics of the insdie and outside of your house, I can most likly help you address that prob.

Glad you asked.
The good news: Santa brought a .22 conversion for my Sig P220.
The bad news: It does not function as designed. Slide will not go forward into battery. Called Sig. Frame and kit have to travel to Exeter, NH, to be custom fitted. :'(
Perhaps there will be a spare mag in the return shipment.
First problem I have ever had in 15 years with a Sig.
Mac.

I got a cash Christmas bonus, not near enough to get JBETS Tele. Other than that, I got by.

I could "store" those for you, if you like. ;D

I must've been a very good boy this year......Santa brought me a new gun safe! I racked my brain for 3 days trying to figure out wtf was in a box that big under the tree!! The spousal unit had slight buyer's remorse, I think, when I pointed out that I would now be required to acquire more long guns, since empty slots in the safe is unacceptable. (m58, I expect you to back me up on that logic the next time you talk to my bride!!!)
The best present, however, was the stunned, near-speechless e-mail I got from a good friend on Christmas Eve. ;D
Oh yeah, getting snowed in alone with the spousal unit for 3 days didn't suck, either. ;D

Asked for and got ammo.
120 rounds of .223
100 rounds of .308
Also, a cordless drill, Leatherman "Skeletool" and a way-cool John Wayne coffee mug.
The best gift was to still have my wife here with me and the family.
:D

8 lb. of Ramshot Competition powder 8)

Hey, a good tool is almost as cool as a gun.
it's in pristine shape. Probably dates from the 1960s based on the manual and literature in the box. Definitely prior to Cooper Industries buyout. Lufkin brand now only appears on tape measures, wheels and rulers.
While it's a direct read and not a vernier, I used the opportunity to pull out my older calipers and teach my sons how to read a vernier dial.

When you get around to shooting, we need a range review. My P220 is putting me in the poor house with current .45 cost!

My Sig, P220, .22 conversion was delivered about 10 days after shipping it it N.H. for repair or re-fitting. I went to the local indoor range (18 degrees outside) and began with Federal value pack pack solids. I could still feel resistance when cycling the slide and every other trigger pull resulted in a failure to go into battery with a new round. That really bummed me out, especially after reading the repair report alleging a successful test fire regimen by Sig.
I then switched to CCI Velocitors, thinking I needed a little more inertia on a stiff spring setup. No change, same problem. So, never losing faith in the inherent quality of the manufacturer, I took it all apart on the work bench to take a look.
The first thing I noticed, belatedly, was that the Sig repair process concluded with a complete cleaning of the frame prior to shipping. No lubricant remained on the rails or anywhere else for that matter.
Secondly and most significantly, I noticed a little accumulation of black plastic dust/shavings where the guide rod hole is located on the front of the slide. Examination of the black plastic (probably more technical terminology available from Sig) guide rod showed that it's diameter was very close to the size of the hole in the slide, causing contact friction and energy loss as the slide tried to cycle.
Proper lubrication and about three hundred manual slide cycles, fast enough to smell burning plastic, smoothed it all out. Now it chugs along without any problems at all and even eats the cheap Blazer ammo that my Ruger refuses.
As soon as it gets warm enough for my fingers to reload a lot of magazines, I'm going to play on the steel targets at the outdoor range. A great gift and money saver too.
Mac.
