I sent this to Corporate:
Comments: Please tell me you didn't just make a rule that people
carrying guns aren't welcome in your restaurants. When I'm stateside I
LOVE to go out for Fudruckers, but I can't support a company that would
make rules discriminating against people who aren't doing anything
wrong. I hope what I heard is incorrect. If so, please disregard this
message. If you do have such a rule, it will cost you my business and
that of my family.
Thanks for your attention,
Hal

They Replied:
Hello Hal,
Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Thank you very much
for your feedback and we are glad to know that you enjoyed Fuddruckers!
Regarding the open carry laws, Fuddruckers decision not to allow guns in
the restaurants is not a statement about gun rights or laws. It is
however, a statement about the primary importance of creating and
maintaining a comfortable environment for all of Fuddruckers guests.
Open carry laws are changing in various states. Therefore, restaurants
are more clearly communicating their policies to guests. Fuddruckers
has had a no weapons policy for several years but it wasn't being
enforced in all locations. By enforcing its no-weapons policy,
Fuddruckers is enforcing its rights as a private business to create the
sort of dining environment we believe best suits and appeals to all or
the majority of our guests.
On behalf of Fuddruckers, Inc., we sincerely appreciate you time and
feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that you will no longer visit
Fuddruckers.

Never set foot in one....so this'un'll be easy.
-
honestly, if I was a resterant onwer/manger I would not want people OCing.
For one there is a huge liabilty risk. two, you will piss off more people by allowing OC then you will by forbidding it.

Your second statement is possibly true... Your first statement we have squashed on many many other threads. Take your fingers out of your ears and listen to what others are saying, TAB.
There is no liability for the business owner. Its the same as if someone had a car accident in a mall parking lot. Does the mall have any liability because they own the property? No. Should businesses also not allow cars on their property? Statistically, it is a far greater risk then guns.

so if you have a ND and injure one of my staff, It won't be a claim to my workmens comp, and I won't have to deal with OSHA?
Federal law states if they spend more then 24 hours at the docs, OSHA does a full inspection. it does not matter if its a paper cut and the guy spends 24 hours in the waiting room or a massive accident that sends several people to the ICU for days/weeks.
Like it or not my if he is on the clock, workmens comp covers it, atleast up front. Just like Car insurance if you have a claim, rather your at fualt or not, your policy goes up. now the comp company will go after the guy, but how many people do you know that have say 1 mil just laying around that they could pay for a ND? what about 100k? 100k is not alot for a medical bill.
actually, you might be liable if some one has a wreck in your parking lot. That has more to do with you not doing something you should have.

A customer would more likely poke an employee in the eye with an umbrella, trip them up with a cane, stumble into them and knock them over, or spill hot coffee on them.
Seems like the safest thing for you to do would be to simply ban customers from your business and be done with all that risk.

Just like with cars, the liability falls on the driver/guy carrying the gun. So, should you the "boss" not allow cars on the property of "your business" so that you can elliminate a variable and lessen the likelyhood of workers comp? If someone had a ND and you had to pay workers comp, then the guy who had the ND would also be on the hook for damages to cover your workers comp expenses. Once again you are not seeing the forest for the trees.

Topped off the mag for ya! ;)

those type of things are unavoidable. where as you can avoid having some one OCing.
Lets replacing OC with something else. Lets say dogs, its ok for a biz owner to not let a dog( seeing eye dogs have to be, but thats another story), the reason, liabilty/hassle.
Lets replace dog, with political signs. its ok to ban those(1a rights) from your property, why not other objects?

Thats laughable, TAB. Those are two really bad arguments.
*Are you telling me that if a pittbull bites me at PetSmart that I can sue PetsMart? What if a seeing eye dog bites me at another business ??? ::)
**The deal with political signs has already been hashed out in the courts.

thats just it, the sign deal has, where as guns are pretty much avoided by the court system. its only been the last few years that the SCOUS has heard any gun cases in decades.
I can refuse to surve any one, for any reason(yes, even race, as long as I keep my mouth shut on the reason)Thats a good thing, and it needs to stay that way. You have a choice rather to enter my place of biz or not. Fallow my rules or GTFO.

I agree with that. I am just making the point that there is no liability for the business owner, and that liability is a silly reason to ban guns.

Not in all states. Mine doesn't.

Things go along just fine for days, weeks and even months, and then something comes along to make he ask "What the hell is TAB doing on a pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment forum" >:(
We need to stand together to make sure our Rights are not taken away by the government. We should be making our stance as well known as those that make theirs known. We shouldn't be making excuses for them or justifying their position and telling each other how it is best not to buck the system. F um, and let them try and make a living without the income from Freedom Loving Americans >:(

its not the goverment doing anything. its a private company. They can run thier biz anyway they see fit.

That is correct! And, if they were over charging, selling fatty food, not seating minorities, or not serving gays this would be big news and the public would be in an uproar. I'm saying that they are not allowing me to to legally exercise a Constitutionally guaranteed Right, and I'm saying they can make their livings without me.
I still don't understand how you can spend time reading and posting on this forum, and not only defend but support activities like this. Most of us play devil's advocate and even debate these issues ourselves to be sure we understand where we are and how it affects us. But, you seem to be an advocate for anti-gunners on here at times.

We've been through this topic maybe half a dozen times now. What is true in kalifornia is not necessarily true in every other state.
And no they can't, BTW. If they refuse to sell to a black, or a woman, or some other "protected" minority, the gummint itself will take legal action against the company or owner. Same if they violate any of the other laws. So why is the 2A (or the State's Constitutional protection for firearms) exempt?

You have this one nailed, Pathfinder. But it gets even worse. In many states you are not allowed to serve goose liver pate because making goose livers into pate is too hard on the goose. In NY, you can't fry your donuts or french fries in anything with transfats in it. We can no longer make our own choices about what we eat, or what kind of gas we put in our cars, or where we send our kids to school, or how we get our health care, and so much more. We are losing basic rights at an alarming rate.
And the looney lefties (like FQ and TAB) are leading the charge.
Sometimes it's fun to stir the puddin' but when you're wrong, it needs to be strongly pointed out that YOU ARE WRONG. And TAB, I am pointing at you on this one. The 2A is a Constitutional right ALL THE TIME... Not just when it won't make others uncomfortable.
-
and how many of you have run biz with several employees and had to deal with workmens comp? every had to deal with a claim?
I have, it was no big deal, guy cut himself with a razor knife, a couple stichs and he was back after lunch to work. yet I was dealing with that claim for weeks.

TAB baby, if I worked for you (which would never happen because of differences in our basic beliefs), and our crew was attacked, and I was injured by an attacker, I would be the first to not only file the workman's comp. claim on you, but I would take you to court over not providing me with proper protection from violence after you stripped me of my Right to protect myself.
Now work that hypothetical out in your Kalli brain :-\

Looking at the responses that people have been getting from Fuddruckers, you can see that they are not only against OC, but against ANY carry in their places except by law enforcement.
My family would go there (hey, not a lot of places in MT), but not anymore. Their right to choose who can come into their place, and my choice to not go there.
