looking for 1 more hand gun
what I have thus far is
1937 Brazilian Contract S&W Revolver 45 ACP
CZ52 Pistol 7.62x25
Bulgarian Makarov 9x18
I reload for 45 ACP and 9x18
I've got about $400 I'm looking at
Filipino 45 ACP from Bud's gun shop - plain jane Milspec 45
top of my price range hair right at 400
100th year of the 1911 AND I'm 45 this year
Police Turn in CZ75 from Robinson's Trading Post ~350
9mm - high cap wonder 9 - don't have one of these
I've hear these are typical carried a lot shot a little police
excellent cost factor can use the extra $$$ to pick up extra mags
will need to purchase 9mm dies
currently I use 9 mm brass to form makarov brass - potential for reloading issues
CZ82 Pistol 9 x 18 12 round
a higher cap for a round I already reload for lowest price
polyagonal barrel - said to be no go for cast bullets - but seems a lot of folks do it with with no issues
I'm really leaning towards the 45

I have a Rock Island 1911 (single stack ) no problems in 4 years They make a double stack as well that sells for around $425 and takes Para magazines.
On the other hand, CZ is also a reputable company, while I don't have any experience with them you can convert an 82 into a .380 CZ83 simply by changing barrels and mags.
-
You can't go wrong with either the 45 or the CZ75. I think for ease of reloading issues I'd go 1911.

Yep.
-
While the CZ 75 is supposed to be a nice pistol,it is the one I would drop from the list since you are already reloading for the other 2 calibers and it is way to easy to mix 9X18 and 9X19.
-
Everyone should get a .45 for their 45th birthday. And when would be better than this year? ;)

If you want something for CCW get the CZ 82 due to size and weight you are more likely to have it when you need it.
If you just want a new range gun get the 1911.

He's already got the makarov he can conceal carry, get the 1911.

Soooo, reading through this thread. 1911's are for those who need to compensate? I've gotta admit, until know I'd never seen the full connection. And have always thought a 1911 was a "pretty" gun. By any modern standard, a heavy, over sized, less reliable, lower capacity, lower return on investment. Yeah, I'd seen all that. But had missed the "need to compensate thing". :-\
Now I have to wonder why Ruger just decided to come out with one a hundred years late... Whats the connection there? :-\ Bad economy causes a loss of virility? So sales of "compensators" are up? Which would mean sales of Corvettes should be up as well. Gotta check on that one. Just thinking out loud now... Thanks for the clarification though! ;)

I'll be dam#ed!
Don't get mad at me! Your comments lead to the connection!!!

Go west, young man. Here in Iowa we not only have concealed and open carry, but are now a "Shall-Issue" state. ;D
-
Come East, in NH we have all that and switchblades too.
And you may displace a Masshole. ;D

I'm sure it's JUST around the corner - right after we pay off the tollways

And what's up with the big increase in NH nonresident CC renewals?
My renewal app came this week and NH wants $100.
Seems like it was about $35 or so last time.......talk about inflation.

Just one more handgun? Good Lord man you don't need help you need sympathy!

It went up in 2009 I think. I got my renewal paperwork in right before the increase in April of 09 and got it for 20 bucks.
Sucks but I'd pay it anyway!

Dem Gov and legislature spent us into the ground. The only tax or fee they did not raise was resident CCW, still $10
Republican/Conservative legislature since the last election with a big enough margin to overturn Vetos.
-
Uh, the legislature is taxing non-voters? Can you blame them? All they do is print a card saying "you can carry, that'll be $100 please". Good work if you can get it. ;)

The Dems taxed the sh!t out of non voters, Non Res CCW up $80, Rooms and meals tax up 1 1/4 %, and campgrounds and RV parks were made to pay it as well, there were others that I can't think of as well.
Of course the tourism portion of the state economy took a major hit last year so they actually collected less money. DUH, big surprise.
The new Leg. repealed all but the CCW increase . That got left out because they are trying to get Constitutional carry passed.

I agree and I'll be 45 in this 100th year of the 1911 as well. I do have a CZ-75B and I'd swear by it though. …but it still should be a .45.

Not too far west. I recently left the Peoples Republik of Kalifornistan and went to UT. In Utah, we have CCW, open carry and silencers/suppressors. We also have a STATE GUN - the 1911! Constitutional carry is still in the works also.
California gets none of the above. Just little tastes of open carry, but only with unloaded guns and with plenty of harassment.

Not entirely true................I think you'll find that at least a couple of us on here have CA concealed carry. What I don't like is that I can only "legally" carry what I have qualified on and it has to be listed on my permit, limited to 3.
-
But can you carry in the whole state or just the county of issue? Not living in CA all I get is hearsay.

It's good for the entire state. (including school zones)
While the California Gun-Free School Zone Act of 1995 (626.9Cal PC) generally prohibits guns in schools, it has an exemption, located in PC 626.9(l), for Peace Officers, retired Peace Officers, and licensed CCW holders.
