This country is getting more nuts every day.

THat makes more sense then a waiting period for a gun. My understanding is the best artist( and this is something you want the best) take weeks to get an appointment with.

They are trying to stop the "drunk sailor syndrome". Where some drunk clown gets a tattoo because he made the decision in an impaired state. It's my understanding, (mind you I have no tattoos), a tattoo artist with any sort of consideration, will not apply a tattoo to anyone in an impaired state. They will tell them to come back the next day. As always there are people who will take anyone's money at any time.
The problem is it comes down to simply more government trying to protect people from themselves. Idiots will always be idiots. What's next, a 24 hour "waiting period" for hookers?

Where does that line start?

No self respecting tattoo artist would tattoo some one drunk. That should not be a law, but most places it is. for the record I am all for regulating and lic the tattoo indusrty, but only as far as safety practices are concrened.
-
Law makers should have a check list of things to abide by...and should start each day reading it and following it.
Here is the first item on the list:
1. ββIt is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.ββ - Justice Robert H. Jackson
Actually the first thing should be 1. Go back to sleep and don't do anything today.
Many might think that would be counter-productive, but it wouldn't.

Once again TAB talks his way around the culdesac enough times to leave me saying Huh ???

I've been saying that for years! No law is better than a bad law...

When I got mine not only was I underage, and drunk, part of the price was a 6 pack for the tattoo guy.

Sober or not I never saw the need, squid or not! My kid has a few, they look pretty silly.
My pop had several but 10 years at sea will do that. Statue of Liberty, a Chiefs "Fouled Anchor" and a dagger running through his forearm.
MA didn't allow them until about ten years back, now they're legal.

One of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time . ;D

Generally speaking, no law is better than a good law.
the best law is subject to abuse and sets the precedent to pass further laws.
No one can reasonably argue that a govt should not impose a certain amount of taxes to defray costs.
the law allowing that set the legal precedent for the NFA and Obummercare.
There is no such thing as a "good" law.

Exactly. The best laws we've seen are those that undo previous laws...which would not have been passed in the first place if the politicians had use the checklist...either item.

The basic rule of thumb for Govt should be "ignore it and it will go away".
Most "major" issues aren't until they are hyped by attention hungry politicians.

Yep. Or media dolts. How many pandemics/epidemics have we been warned about that didn't amount to anything?
They could sensationalize shit coming out of a goose.

Jesus. Yougottabekiddingme!!
Do they specify how many sheets of toilet paper you can use on your butt or is that still in committee?
-
I don't know about TP sheet count, but you are limited by law on how much water you can use to flush, and that's federal .
Aren't you glad you live in a "free country" ?
-
Will Rogers said it best...
"Thank goodness we don't get all the government we pay for."
Too bad what we do get is still too much.

Kinda like your first marriage? ;D
-
Tom it gets worse, many locals require even stricker rules, there is no ryhm or reason, some just have a rule, others base it on what else you have in the home or the number of x per y... Its very confusing.

FIFY ;D

The Feds have laws regulating toilet tank size .

+1
Which is an excellent example of the folly of gubmint sanctioned regulations. They set a limit on water flow for toilets per flush, not realizing that because there is less water flowing, it takes more flushes at times to get the job done, thus negating the savings.
I had to replace the ball flapper for the flush valve in one of our toilets the other day and all the store had in stock were "flow saving" models (adjustable to regulate the close rate of the flap to limit water consumption).... it makes it difficult (even on maximum flow, to flush a couple of kleenex tissues. We use three times the water as we used to, which isn't a large issue since we are on a private well, but it makes it aggravating to have to wait for the tank to refill to re-flush.
My next mission is to visit a couple of "old timey" local hardware stores to see if they have some older stocks of flappers.
-
You will have better luck checking on old buildings that are being torn down.
The federal law makes it illegal to even sell the older "high capacity" crapper parts.
-
which is why i installed a old spud end ( tank on the wall) toilet in my old house. 5.5 gallons per flush. Never had an issue with clogs in my drain line :) tom there is the 1.28, 1.6 and the duel flush models, feds say 1.6 now, 1.28 2016, duel flush is coming.there are some super low water/ no watwe/ foam too any one remember the kolher "liner" pos in the late 90s? biggest pos ever. I do like the solan zero water urnals, they are basicly a high tech trap filled with a silcon oil. they are an actually "green" product that works and makes since. or you can save the planet like I do and Ii recomend. When you take a shower in the morning, pee.
-
Won't be able to pee in the shower much longer.
You'll need the extra fluid to help the turd go down >:(

True, they are getting better, the only issue id when parts go bad, they are going to be very hard to find. Just about every manufactor has a diffrent system now, no more one size fits all deals :( i use to tell clients about peeing in the shower when they wanted some green bull shit that was in a word, " not" green.

Reminds me of the answer to a couple of marriage-related questions.
Q: What's the definition of a bachelor? A: A man who never made the same mistake ONCE.
This one is from one of my co-workers (divorced, of course)
Q: Why is divorce so expensive? A: Because it's worth it!!
That being said, Ms. Kathy has been putting up with my sorry behind for more than 30 years, and there's no end in sight for her. Every day I say a little prayer of thanksgiving that God allowed me to marry quite so far out of my league!!
(Sadly, M'ette will never read this post and pass it along to Ms. K. But let me say something snarky and she's burning up the lines!! ;D)
