That's true. It's the reason why NRA stickers don't go on my car, except for on election days.

Are you saying just because the one doesn't have any guns, they wouldn't have stuff someone would want to steal?

Door #1 - Gets robbed when they are home and gets robbed when they aren't.
Door #2 - Gets robbed when no one is home but is smart enough to have a gun safe. Stops a robbery if they are home.

Think Door #2 is still better.

I think TAB is right here. Concealed means conceald. I no longer have a gun rack on my wall (where a repair or delivery guy might see it), don't put one in the truck and got rid of my NRA sticker, all to avoid being robbed. If someone does kick in my door they'll find out I have a gun soon enough.

I dont advertise. Only a few family members/close personal friends know I own guns..... even fewer know I carry.

I suppose when I am in the city.. I could say I am 'incognito".. no one knows and I don't let on....

Around here.....I don't "advertise"... but then again.. anyone who knows me ( and in a town of 800 people and a 5 county population of 3,000..my family selling guns.. my husband and I running and operating gun sites..and being 6th generation family  living here all my life.. and having all 6 generations gun owners...
Wellll~~~~ :-\ I guess they probably know I have guns and carry.  ;D

What is the funniest though is when someone finds out that I carry, and also that oh by the way... I am carrying right now. It always leaves them dumbfounded ;)

I use to love this stuff, but I definitely don't advertise anymore, no stickers on my vehicle or front door, just not worth the potential risk, M'lette, I'm so glad you live in an environment, it is still viable. Of course I would pick door #1 as my target to steal from, and watch door #2, carefully, and make sure the owners were not home. The 12 gauge  holes do make a statement

Of course if you were a sneaky bastard.....you'd put up the no guns allowed sign and then just shoot them in the face with your Glock. But that would be very, very wrong....wouldn't it? ;D

I guess I don't understand this thinking of hiding. What happened to being actively pro-gun and spreading the word? Everyone seems so worried about being robbed if they display their view point. Well don't put a sign up that says, "I have X amount of guns worth X amount of money in my home or vehicle." But be proud of exercising your Second Amendment rights.

I was under the impression that this is what this entire forum is about. Spreading the word about how great guns are and the amount of fun you can have with them, along with the safety you can enjoy as well.

During my daily work, I have to make small talk with numerous people throughout the day. I never hesitate to steer the conversation towards guns. Most of the time, I find people who are of the same mindset and friendships are made, but there are people who don't know or don't understand the gun culture. This leads into a discussion, in which many times, I leave them being informed and often having a changed opinion on the matter. Often it leaves me rather late to the next scheduled job, but it is worth it.

So this junk about not telling people you have guns is why mainstream media has the ability to corrupt those who may be on the fence or those who are uninformed. Hell, you don't even have to tell people you HAVE guns. It can be a simple comment as to how much you enjoy shooting, whether for hunting, sport or just entertainment.

Gun ownership should be displayed as proudly as the American flag. How many of you on here would hide that?

That's just my 15 cents worth but after BHO tax it's equal to -$0.02

I have an incredibly dumb question:  IF you live in an area that it would be more conspicous not to have an NRA sticker in the window of your outfit is it a bad idea not to have it on the window?

Its kind of scary Tex, we actually agree with each other twice in as many days. The thing is, I like to choose who the people who I tell about me owning guns are. Conversations at work or at bars are great, and important. I do not however, want to advertise to the world at large. I don't have an NRA sticker on my truck for the same reason I lock the doors. I don't hang my gun on the wall for the same reason I don't let the pizza guy see which drawer in the breakfront I keep my cash in. However, I am always willing to talk about shooting with someone I trust.

Those are good points. Just need to inform the NRA to stop printing stickers and save that cash for other things.

The red text is what I don't get. You have to be willing to talk with people outside of your comfort zone. In less then 2 min, I could tell you whether someone is pro gun or not without coming straight out and asking. I don't generally trust people that are anti-gun but you have to be able to communicate with them if you ever have any hope of changing their minds.

By trust, I don't mean agree with, just someone I'm reasonably certain won't break into my house.

I had an NRA sticker on my old car, but haven't gotten around to putting one on my newer car yet.  My truck cap from Leer has the Browing option package so it says Browning on it.  It also has some other outdoorsman type identifiers on it.   I've never had a problem with either my car or truck.  I don't normally leave guns in them either.  When I make the 400+ mile trek to deer camp and it's loaded up, it pretty obvious that it's a hunting vehicle and I assume it may be a target.  I try to watch where it's parked and park where I can watch it if possible.  At that time of the year there are many other targets available, I just try to make mine a little tougher than others.  People that know me, know I have guns.  Of that gun thefts that I have personal knowledge of the guns appeared to be the target of the theft, the BG knew the guns were there and not an accidental find.  I hope I never have any stolen, but what would bother me the most is where and with who they might end up.  I worry more about vandleism from a$$hole that may not like my political stickers.

*I've tried.. Lord how I've tried to get her interested in shooting.. She shoots sometimes * when we make her* but is a horrible shot because she won't try to get into it)

Most people only know I have guns if they notice my carry gun printing under my shirt, Those who know I have more than one also know I can and will kill a thief just as easily with a $1 butcher knife from Family Dollar.
I haven't always been the best of citizens, if some one robs me I WILL find them.

WAIT? There no beer pong table there yet? You guys be glad I haven't been sent there yet! (If I have, I couldn't find the corner. Damn round rooms. ;D )

Guess the ping pong table will convert easily. Just don't spill it on the felt of the pool table. I will be very upset. Plus alcohol abuse is illegal.

No, But we do have a Boot box for playing "Beer hunter"  ;D
Letty will like that, losing is good for your hair  ;D

M'lette
I'd reccomend you just replace your avatar with that picture of you with Rugers new AR. It'd save you a whole lot of verbiage. I know we'll never agree on the choice issue, but in school (during the clinic bombing thing) I dated a girl who had two bumper stickers on her car. One was an NRA sticker, the othe read "I'm pro-choice and I shoot back". Politics aside, it got the point across. ;D
