I guess I don't understand this thinking of hiding. What happened to being actively pro-gun and spreading the word? Everyone seems so worried about being robbed if they display their view point. Well don't put a sign up that says, "I have X amount of guns worth X amount of money in my home or vehicle." But be proud of exercising your Second Amendment rights.

I was under the impression that this is what this entire forum is about. Spreading the word about how great guns are and the amount of fun you can have with them, along with the safety you can enjoy as well.

During my daily work, I have to make small talk with numerous people throughout the day. I never hesitate to steer the conversation towards guns. Most of the time, I find people who are of the same mindset and friendships are made, but there are people who don't know or don't understand the gun culture. This leads into a discussion, in which many times, I leave them being informed and often having a changed opinion on the matter. Often it leaves me rather late to the next scheduled job, but it is worth it.

So this junk about not telling people you have guns is why mainstream media has the ability to corrupt those who may be on the fence or those who are uninformed. Hell, you don't even have to tell people you HAVE guns. It can be a simple comment as to how much you enjoy shooting, whether for hunting, sport or just entertainment.

Gun ownership should be displayed as proudly as the American flag. How many of you on here would hide that?

That's just my 15 cents worth but after BHO tax it's equal to -$0.02
Its kind of scary Tex, we actually agree with each other twice in as many days. The thing is, I like to choose who the people who I tell about me owning guns are. Conversations at work or at bars are great, and important. I do not however, want to advertise to the world at large. I don't have an NRA sticker on my truck for the same reason I lock the doors. I don't hang my gun on the wall for the same reason I don't let the pizza guy see which drawer in the breakfront I keep my cash in. However, I am always willing to talk about shooting with someone I trust.

Those are good points. Just need to inform the NRA to stop printing stickers and save that cash for other things.

The red text is what I don't get. You have to be willing to talk with people outside of your comfort zone. In less then 2 min, I could tell you whether someone is pro gun or not without coming straight out and asking. I don't generally trust people that are anti-gun but you have to be able to communicate with them if you ever have any hope of changing their minds.

By trust, I don't mean agree with, just someone I'm reasonably certain won't break into my house.

professional burglers( its not robery) only go in when they know some one is not home.  Its idiots and people that want to do harm to others that go into a occupied house.

I had an NRA sticker on my old car, but haven't gotten around to putting one on my newer car yet.  My truck cap from Leer has the Browing option package so it says Browning on it.  It also has some other outdoorsman type identifiers on it.   I've never had a problem with either my car or truck.  I don't normally leave guns in them either.  When I make the 400+ mile trek to deer camp and it's loaded up, it pretty obvious that it's a hunting vehicle and I assume it may be a target.  I try to watch where it's parked and park where I can watch it if possible.  At that time of the year there are many other targets available, I just try to make mine a little tougher than others.  People that know me, know I have guns.  Of that gun thefts that I have personal knowledge of the guns appeared to be the target of the theft, the BG knew the guns were there and not an accidental find.  I hope I never have any stolen, but what would bother me the most is where and with who they might end up.  I worry more about vandleism from a$$hole that may not like my political stickers.

No.. my sister lives in Western Kansas. She doesn't like to shoot very much. Her husband is a gun nut..but Sherri doesn't really care for them.
*I've tried.. Lord how I've tried to get her interested in shooting.. She shoots sometimes * when we make her* but is a horrible shot because she won't try to get into it)
 She would rather shop..  :P

Oh well... to each their own.. :)
