Guys left during WWII and didn't come home till they were wounded, or Killed. Just the end of the war was not enough to be rotated home, They had to have enough points. These guys nowadays have basically year on year off.  Waah.
As for the "Exodus" don't blame them a bit. As the Country is now it does not deserve their sacrifice.

Why?  Because he won't spend another six years of his life policing a bunch of savages that don't want help?  This guy went over, kick ass, and came back to raise his family.  I wouldn't hold it against anyone that didn't want to waste a decade of their life propping up what we know will fall down the day we leave.  I think he does more then enough now training and giving his insights to new service men.

Politicians like to keep police, fireman, teachers and soldiers poor so they can raise taxes for promised pay raises that never quite materialize.  Most taxes I've heard of the last 40 years on state levels were going to help police, firemen and teachers....if they had kept their word those guys would be doing quite well.  The only ones who get the big bucks are the political ones that tow the line....rank and file don't eat so well.  My mom taught 30+ years and was smart enough to raise her son in the knowledge that many politicians lie and use people as the means to an end they don't discuss.

No, for complaining about multiple tours when they could (and have in the past ) just left his butt there till they decided the job was done.
Training is what they do while their waiting to earn their money. The tours overseas are what they volunteered for. (Although good trainers save lives lets face it, it's the Army, they have lives to burn. )
I don't blame him a bit for not wanting to serve under these traitors,in an unwinnable fight.
 I just don't want to hear the b*tching about "how tough it is".
Granted it's no fun, but these sissies complain about MRE's for crying out loud, they would have puked at Ham and lima beans.
For that matter we had about 1/4 the air and land mobility they have now, we hiked, every where, all weather.

Agreed. Too much tail and too few teeth. Trouble is, like every organization, its the tail that sets the policies and budgets. Guess where the money goes? Again, when budget cuts come, guess who is shafted first? There will never be an underpayed assistant school board adminstrator, or an admin building that doesn't get constructed.
