"Discriminated against"? Good lord. Hell yes they live in the shadows and are discriminated against. Why? They are breaking the freaking law. I would have offered Calderon a simple proposition. We will model our immigration laws on Mexico's. What could be fairer than that? The only sensible thing BO did (other than refraining from bitch sllapping Calderon in the rose Garden, which I would have been sorely tempted to do) was acknowledgining our complicity in Mexico's drug violence. This is one area we do owe Mexico an apology. If we didn't buy it they wouldn't sell it. They (for now) feel the brunt of the drug war. Either we seriously create and enforce a sufficiently draconian system of laws against drug use that makes people stop wanting drugs (good luck), or we legalize it. There really isn't a plan C here. Two bad options, pick one.

I would have offered him a proposition as well, Don't cross that line or we do that 1846 thing again, only this time you don't get no crumbs.   ;D

Otherwise I agree with FQ completely on this.
