Maybe I missed something, but why are you giving up on the .45acp and going with the .40?
There's a whole host of "safe action", .45s out there. I like the XD and XDM line. But aren't there also ones by Glock, S&W and others?
I owned a 92 and it just seemed rather "bulky" in my hand.
One reason was magazine capacity and the other was caliber choices in some of the guns.
Felt recoil between a .40 S&W and .45 acp is minimal. If you look at muzzle velocity they are very similar, but the .40 bleeds off quickly.
I am trying to balance fit, features and available calibers. In a perfect world it would be between .45 and 9, but I see that manufacturers seem to be downsizing. Not as many .45's available. Is it marketing to the "gangbanger" idea that 9mm is deadly and cool, is it capitalizing on cops shooting .40, or is it that our current society either doesn't understand the .45 or can't handle the power? I don't know, but I am used to being known as the guy that figures out what he wants, stands pretty firm, and is usually in the minority. Some dealers love to work with me, and others absolutely hate dealing with me. And there are those that don't really understand anything other than popular views and marketing meetings and can't figure out why I never come back when they tell me I don't understand what I'm looking for.
One gun that I have looked at that intrigues me is the SigSauer P250. I have even started looking at a
Glock. You know that when looking at guns you always need to consider support - S&W you end up with Jerry or Julie; Sig there is Max Michel; but with Glock there is Jessie

Ooooops, sex selling guns is another thread isn't it
