11. Invent a time machine, travel back to 1990, find your younger self, slap him upside the head and tell him to stock up.

In all seriousness, I'm glad this is just ammo and not something like, say, food and crop seeds.  Maybe it's a good time to stock up on those?  Hmm?

Now that, I got.  :D

Just this past Monday evening, my youngest son came in from his volunteer fire department meeting with a box containing about 35,000 seeds of varying types....sealed in those NASA-type long-term storage packs. He has a friend who works for a seed distributor and he got them for us.......and we ain't even 'preppers'.....yet.   ;)

Flour, salt, sugar, rice, beans, coffee, baking powder.  Get those in 50# increments stored away. (not baking powder) Plant a big garden every year.  Can vegetables, dig a root cellar.  Grow open pollinated varieties so's you can save seed.  Cut and rick wood for drying, splitting, and further cutting to size.  Get a wood stove to heat the house.  Get one that can double as a cook stove.  Learn to cook on/in it.

Plan on doing all this without electricity or power tools.  Use electricity and power tools while you can.

When the current 'crisis' is over, buy reloading components, and equipment.

If currency is only good for tacking up on the outhouse wall for future use, what will you use for barter and trade?

Think about this, BRICS (Brazil, Russia,  India, China, S. Africa) met last month in Capetown (I think, I know it was in S. Africa) to discuss a new reserve currency for world markets.  Currently, the US dollar is that currency.  The dollar is a fiat currency, meaning, .gov can print as much as they like without having to back it with hard assets.  $85 Billion per month is the current printing rate.  That is what is keeping the Dow up and interest rates down.  Our debt holders are not particularly pleased about this.  Oil is currently priced in dollars.  Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, India, and many others want that changed also.

Should either of those events occur, the standard of living in the US will drop by a minimum of 25% overnight.

I have a stockpile of seeds and I've become quite proficient at gardening and canning.  I also have a stockpile of yeast and sugar and have become quite good at making wine.  If the SHTF, I will have plenty to barter.

Ammo will NEVER be bartered away.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

Things get that bad I'm investing in a case of good Scotch and an AK and then dare them to put me out of my misery. Short term planning yes, but at least it will entertain the neighbors. ;D

I'm with you FQ....I figure even if we have to go to the mattresses over this 2A thing I won't last all that long. I'm too big of a target, too slow, and I like to admire my work, so "stick and move" is not my forte.

I would be more apt to medicate and take out any azzles that wander my way.
I got the blues as my companion.

I'm in the same boat...... can't outrun 'em...... gotta bug-in and stand my ground.

In the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom world, I'd be the lame wildebeest that gets eaten by the lions.......

BUT, when they do get to me, I hope to be standing in a pile of empty brass, surrounded by a bunch of dead lions.  ;)
