Flour, salt, sugar, rice, beans, coffee, baking powder. Get those in 50# increments stored away. (not baking powder) Plant a big garden every year. Can vegetables, dig a root cellar. Think about this, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, S. Africa) met last month in Capetown (I think, I know it was in S. Africa) to discuss a new reserve currency for world markets. Currently, the US dollar is that currency. The dollar is a fiat currency, meaning, .gov can print as much as they like without having to back it with hard assets. $85 Billion per month is the current printing rate. That is what is keeping the Dow up and interest rates down. Our debt holders are not particularly pleased about this. Oil is currently priced in dollars. Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, India, and many others want that changed also.
Should either of those events occur, the standard of living in the US will drop by a minimum of 25% overnight.
