So we in GA are not above some antics (thread drift from ammo buying).
Seems 3 schools were put on lock down this past week. Man with gun seen at one of the high schools.
Keystone cops it was. What I can piece together from the official release.
Off duty SWAT team member in his private car, gets a cell call to participate in serving a warrant on a dangerous person. He's not in uniform and doesn't want to arrive for the warrant serving without his gear on. He looks for a convenient place to change. So he pulls over into this large empty parking lot which is part of the high school football stadium property. He does not report his location to dispatch since he's not really on-duty at the time. Get's out, opens his trunk and starts putting on his tactical gear, including gunslinger holster. Then gets out his tactical M4.
Student sees him from a distance and reports "man with gun". It gets phoned in to 911. Student tells nearby coach who heads that direction to investigate.
Said SWAT member then hears a dispatch for every available unit to proceed to HS in response to man with gun. SWAT member thinks, he's right there, on the HS property, he'll be the first to respond. He gets in car, but has to drive around the school to get to the front office, because the parking lot he's in doesn't connect with the main driveway. Coach reports seeing, from a distance, suspicious man with gun get in car and drive off.
County puts HS and other nearby schools on lock down while said SWAT member and 20 other officers search HS grounds and nearby neighborhoods for..... wait for it......you know it.......said SWAT member.
