kind of a combinationof all three.  It's weird after I tried running I rode my bike for 15 miles full bore

I'm kind of the same way. Can bike all day, hate running unless it's for a reason - soccer, football, etc. My problem is that running for running's sake is just too boring, with biking I see more different things in the same time frame.

My solution was simple - MP3 player on the arm, concentrate on the music  and run. This removed the 'omg, I'm still looking at that same feckin' tree!' factor.  Dunno, may work for you.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Even when I was in good shape I hated to run.  Carrying a pack all day was easier than running a couple of miles. Had to do it so I found intervals were helpful.

Walk 3 minutes, jog 30 seconds, run 10 seconds. Walk 2.5 minutes, jog 45 seconds, run 20 seconds.

Work till its all run and you should be fine. At that point 2-3 miles was just putting one foot in front of the other.

The second thing that helped the boredum  was an Ipod. Keeps my little mind distracted.  I row now for 40 minutes and it just flies by. Did I say how much I hate running? ;D

Last thing is when did you have a stress test?  Make sure things are working alright before you tax them to hard.

Can you walk at a brisk pace for .03?

Shoes comfortable? How are your feet? Skinny, flat, high arches?

OBTW, The Gunney said he can be available for coaching.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Yeah, I can walk briskly for 10 + miles.  It's almost like those catchers that can throw to second but can't throw back to the mound

If you can walk briskly for 10 miles, don't fret so much on a short 1-1/2 kilometer walk.  You should be able to walk that in 15-18 minutes.  You've lost a bunch of weight, running isn't for anyone and the pounding your knees and ankles take from running isn't worth the injury.  Do what you can, when you can and enjoy the stroll.

You're moving again, it's never going to be easy but you've made tremendous progress.

Reward yourself, even for the little things..

Well done.....DR..

 :)

p.s.  I've had several hip replacements and running isn't an option for me but I hated it even when I was healthy....running sucks IMHO....

You might recall an episode of TBD where they mention you ability to run for a mile, possibly carrying a family member might be the difference btw life and death if the SHTF.  Your personal safety and your ability to protect loved ones if impacted by your personal health and fitness.  Carrying a .45 is a part of it, but so is Physical Fitness.  Just image Rob Pincus (in bad guy mode from TBD) chasing after you, that should get you going ;-)
