Has been done.

Don't remember the details, but after capturing a group of Muslim terrorists in the Philippines (maybe) the leader of the US Forces, Teddy Roosevelt (maybe) had them face the firing squad armed with bullets dipped in pig fat.

All of the terrorists were shot save 1 who was released to let other know the fate that awaited them.

Terrorism in the area vanished for many years.

The story was posted here, so I'm sure someone will be able to recall the thread.  I was not able to find it in a search.

It was Black Jack Pershing following the Spanish American War during the Moro Uprising (1899-1913). He threatened to bury muslim insurgents with pigs. It was a bluff. The Brits actually did it during the Second Afghan War (1878-1880), or least thats the rumor. Facts are thin on this one, but it probably inspired Pershing.
FQ13 who will switch off the history geek mode now, sorry, but these "little wars" are a pretty facinating and forgotten piece of history.

Thanks, FQ.

Here is a link to Snopes take on this story.  Undetermined.  It is a long and interesting article about Pershing's dealings with the Moros and the viability of this tactic in general.

Agree completely   ;D
One of the causes of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1858 ish  (remember hearing about "The black hole of Calcutta" ?  )
Was a rumor circulated among Muslim troops (Sepoy's ) that the new bullets being issued were lubed with Pig fat. They were not, they were actually lubed with Mutton tallow, which PO'd the Hindu's and Buddhists, and was not believed by Muslims.
