Nice piece of family history alf, and looks very good. 22's will always be around, no reason this pistol won't last another couple generations.

Family guns, regardless of brand, are always priceless. I guess Hogue grips, and a red dot scope, will just have to go on another one,... ;)

Seriously TW, having owned one? Putting a red dot on that thing is like putting a spoiler and Pirelli tires on a Yugo. ;D Its a fun gun, but if you shoot minute of armadillo at 50 feet, you're having a good day. But hey, that's what the other eight rounds are for.  ;)

No optics or aftermarket grips.   This one will stay as is.   

Funny thing about the noise.   We didn't have ear muffs when I was a kid and I wasn't smart enough to stick cotton in my ears.  So I learned to fire it one-handed, bullseye style, with my left hand wrapped around my head holding my right ear closed.

Took it too the indoor range today.  The single action trigger isn't bad, but the double action really was horrible.   Could be that Dad had never cleaned it?

I didn't break it fully apart as I need a manual to clue me in on a few things.  Like how the cylinder pin is attached.  I did remove the cylinder and the grips and clean as much as possible.   At least now the cylinder spins when you flick it.   And the double action pull is considerably better.

While the visible portions of the metal look okay, the parts you can't see (under the grips) are horrible.  We're talking serious tool marks.   Very rough inside the grip.   Very rough.  But then H&R wasn't S&W nor Colt and they were trying to make a lower priced product.

One day I'll take it to the outdoor range and test accuracy.   It might be good enough for .22 silhouette.

I also remembered tonigth what a pain revolvers are to clean.   1 barrel, 9 chambers.  Ugh.
