I Have, This Old Gun - HR 999

My Dad came up from Florida to visit and brought me the handgun he used to teach me to shoot.   An H&R Sportsman 999.  Break top, nine shot, .22LR. 

While the gun isn't exactly in the same class as a S&W target revolver, it has possibilities.   I think a little cleaning up of the action will do it a world of good.  H & R was the "Charter Arms" of its day.   Trying to make affordable revolvers for everyday use.  They concentrated more on the "sporting" market as opposed to the "self defense".  OR at least that's what I remember.

Brings back fond memories.

I have an old H&R Police Special dated 1891. It is a seven-shot .22 break-top revolver. It's a tack-driver at 7yds.

I had an old H@R .22. It was louder than hell (I hate .22 revolvers, that crack gets my ears ringing every time), but a fun plinker. It wasn't the most accurate thing in the world, but a fun little varmint and woods gun. Enjoy.

Funny thing,  Maggie doesn't like to shoot her S&W Model 19 because it's "too loud".  BUT...her 686 and Ruger GP-161 AREN'T "too loud". Go figure...
That's ok...I like it because it cleans easier than that stainless 686 and has a feather-edge trigger. Fun, fun, fun.

Its not the noise per se Jaybet, its that hyper sonic CRACK that gets me. .357 is the same way. Maybe its just me, but it really starts the ringing in both calibers that say, a .38 or .45 doesn't.
FQ13 who generally wears ear protection, but not always when in the woods etc.

fq, get some electronic muffs or plugs and wear them on your woods walk.  Help you hear better before and after the shot!
