A totally off topic comment to Frank, You can identify the particular model of P 40 by the size of the air scoop, smaller air scoop later model. This applies ONLY to stock aircraft not the ones modified for racing.

Cool. I couldn't even see if it had a scoop. At least I could tell it wasn't a twin-boom P-38.  ;D  But I know more about A-7, A-10, F-15, and F-16 era planes and helicopters, and little about WWII vintage.
