The '56 Chevy of all semi-autos - the Browning High Power in 9mm.

I am already taking cover folks, so fire at will, but the HighPower is far from a cool gun when the dang thing leaves "slide-tracks" on the web between thumb and trigger finger. I have been told its due to the size of my hands but i have also seen it happen to smaller hands than mine. Other armchair experts tell me its my grip due to the 1911 style, well it does not affect Glock, Sig(other than  lock open of last shot), Beretta, Ruger, any S&W auto, H&K, Taruas, Springfield, even the Browning BDM and one or 2 others I am missing. I will take any other full size 9mm over the highpower...........well almost any.  :)

Fire away you High-Power-Nuts. I got my Level III on. Ok its just a pillow taped to my crotch  ;) but I think I am still good.  ;D

First was a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag in 1978.

Then (in order)

Security Six 357 Mag, S&W 39 9mm traded in on a Colt Combat Commander 45 ACP...

Last purchase was two M&P45, both black, one w safety and one w/o safety.

Browning BDM 9mm.  A weird gun derived from the hi-power that could change from a DAO to double-single with the twist of a switch.  Also, held 15rds, and is very light.  Looked great on paper.  NEVER had a misfire, even using it in USPSA Production.  However, the other side of the reliability is that it was 'combat accurate', not great for USPSA and their long range 50yd shots.  Still have it with a selection of 15 and 10rd magazines.  I've even heard about and thought about sending it for an action job.

I have a couple of problems with your post Overload........

1st.......

Production class was what combat accurate was made for.
3rd.......

USPSA and their long range 50yd shots.
I may be wrong but 32 yards is the outer limits that a sanction matched can use. But like i said " I may be wrong"

If it is reliable then why pay money to break it...... thats only my opinion....... and tighten up those groups by maybe 50% !

First was a model 28 .357 mag back in '82. Next was a Super Blackhawk .44 mag. Since then I have a Springfield 1911, a pair of .45 vaqueros and most recent was a model 617 10 shot 6" barrel .22. Had a Glock once but did not like it, sold it to buy the 1911.

1st: Light without magazine.  Lighter when loaded with the 10rd choked magazines.  Still not bad with 15rds.  I also own a Para P9-18: all steel and 18 rounds.  Plus, the BDM has an amazingly slim grip, even with it using doublestack magazines.
2nd: But we shoot the same classifiers as the open guys, and are graded against the best shooters with guns that are more than combat accurate
3rd: CM 03-10 Area Five Standards has 6 shots at 150 feet.
CM 99-09 Long Range Standards has 18 shots at 120 feet.
4th: From what I remember, it helped the heavy first (double action) shot, but left the single-action shots alone.

It's ok to have problems, it's how we learn.

I think our clubs rules for production class are different, 10rd. in mag, production class compete against other prod. class. Over all is what it is........ and as far as distance here in Area 7(i think), people would have a meltdown and be looking for match coordinaters rearend on a plater.

Just saying man you should of seen all the tears Feb.'06 match held at Smith adn Wesson's place, the second to the last stage had Texas stars set one behind other @ 20yds. , well i have never seen so many people run out of ammo. Then the last stage of course was a bunch of steel( something like 35 shots but poor memorery) with most at distance of 15 to 25 yards. yet again more DNF's. Man they needed to hand out tissues.
