GOOD! That tends to prevent singing, an art comparable to wearing a bikini. There are those who should and those who shouldn't. True wisdom is measured by knowing which camp you fall into.

I definitely fall into the "no bikini" camp!!    ;D

Don't mention snow.

We have had very rapid melting of the 5 FEET of snow we received this winter, the Red River is expected to crest at 43 feet (flood stage starts at 18 feet) - and they built the local temporary dikes to only cover the predicted crest of 41 feet. So now it's back to the drawing board. Melt water is spreading across the fields - driving down the back roads is like rolling across a causeway with nothing but water in either direction. and that is not flood, only snow melt.

On top of that, we got a blizzard Tuesday, another 5-8" and temps are in the teens at night, twenties during the day. At least MB has hills for the water to run down. It is flat here so it spreads fast! So now the water is freezing back up.

So no more talk of snow . . .    >:(

Prayers for people in Fargo, Moorhead and suburbs would be appropriate.

PS: My house is safe and dry for now. the local little river (15 miles from the Red) has crested and the town's dikes and levees have all held.

Pathfinder, I watched the news tonite and got that sick feeling in the gut. I pray for all those up in the Dakota's and Minn.  that will be dealing with this for the next month or so. I remember watching the 1997 flood. Damm if they said that was a 500 YEAR event. Well someone forgot to tell Mother Nature....

Hope things turn out for the best Pathfinder. News is not painting anything pretty weather wise,  in your neighborhood.

Hoping the power of prayer can send something "good " your way.

Stay safe..

UPDATE: Al Gore leaves his lights on for earth hour

http://politics.nashvillepost.com/2009/03/29/al-gore-will-leave-the-lights-on-for-ya/

Quote
I pulled up to Al’s house, located in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville, at 8:48pm – right in the middle of Earth Hour. I found that the main spotlights that usually illuminate his 9,000 square foot mansion were dark, but several of the lights inside the house were on.

In fact, most of the windows were lit by the familiar blue-ish hue indicating that floor lamps and ceiling fixtures were off, but TV screens and computer monitors were hard at work. (In other words, his house looked the way most houses look about 1:45am when their inhabitants are distractedly watching “Cheaters” or “Chelsea Lately” reruns.)

The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion.

I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees.

The wife and I been watching the action on the Red River situation everyday.  We don't know anyone out there, but sure hope their efforts are worthy.  And yes, we'll keep all of them in our thoughts and prayers.
