An early Christmas gift
« on: November 27, 2009, 03:30:25 PM »
A few months ago a lady my parents know came to my office to see if I still "collected guns". Of course my only reaction could be sure. She asked if I wanted a shotgun and of course my first and only question was how much. She told me it was from the mid 1930's and it was something left to her that she didn't know much about only that the antique dealer offered her $30. She didn't want to sell it to me she just wanted to give it to me to ensure that her dads gun was taken care of. I received it today and it turns out to not be a shotgun but a Iver Johnson Self Cocking Safety Rifle in .22LR. A far cry from my wishful thinking that it would be an original Winchester or a Model 97 or even an early production Ithica. But since I have committed the original sin of never having owned a .22 I guess this is the best Christmas gift anyone could have given me.

Nice, clean her, oil her, and take her out for an afternoon. Might be a good date  ;)

Nice looking stock. It seems Santa thinks you have been a "good" boy this year.

Nice, clean her, oil her, and take her out for an afternoon. Might be a good date  ;)

Than take the woman who gave it to you out to dinner for two in a row.

Congratulations.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

This thing is surgical in precision! Nicest trigger I've ever pulled!

Awesome when these things happen, Old school is often surprising, in my experience.
