A Tense Thanksgiving Moment At The In-Laws
« on: December 01, 2009, 08:08:36 AM »
Last week we discussed on this forum whether or not each of us would be carrying at the Thanksgiving dinner table.  I elected to carry, much to the chagrin of my mother-in-law.  Here's what happened:

It was a lovely celebration, Kathy and I traveled to her dad and step-mother's in a little town about 70 miles from here.  We very much enjoyed the company and conversation with her parents, as well as my mother-in-law's 85 year old brother-in-law and his "girlfriend".  The food was delicious, the conversation pleasant, in short, it was a blissful day...............................until Kathy and I prepared to leave for home.  I had dressed for the ocassion in jeans and a baggy sweatshirt, and had my Kel-Tec P-11 9mm in an IWB at about 4 o'clock on my right side.  When my mother-in-law moved to give me a hug goodbye, you guessed it, she got a left hand full of gun.  She said nothing, but did not seem amused.  Time will tell if we're invited back for Christmas.  ;D
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

I went to my brother's for Thanksgiving.  He is just getting into handguns and recently bought a Glock so I took a couple of other polymer guns for him to try.  We went out to the range before lunch and I showed him my Kimber Pro Carry while out there.  I carry IWB at 3-4 o'clock.  When I was leaving (the last one to go) it went something like this:
Bro: "Lift the right side of you shirt for a second."
   So I do.
SIL: "Oh, my God!"
A 1911 in condition one does tend to freak people out.
Bro: "See.  Concealed means just that.  He has been here all day and you never noticed."

We'll have to see if I get invited back.

I feel your pain.  I'm just hoping my escapade doesn't get me removed from the will.   ;D

Sorry for you guys......my family members on both sides would feel uneasy if I DIDN'T have a gun on.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

It happened to me one time when I was wearing a my shoulder holster. I was with a friend and his AA sponsor when the sponsor went to nudge me with his elbow at the dinner table as he was telling a joke. He was one of those uptight AA "my life is so great now" type guys and wasnt too happy his sponsee would hang out with someone who carried a gun. After all his sponsee is trying to do the "right thing."
Did we win???

Throw it right back at them,
" Oh, My, are you carrying a GUN ?"
"Well yeah, aren't you ? Or do you expect everyone else to protect your irresponsible hide ?"

Since I started carrying several years ago that is what I said from day one.  The day I don't carry is the day you should be concerned.
