All my Xray-Deltas are of the .45ACP flavor. So forgive the dumb question.

Are the .40 compact mags different than the .40 subcompact mags.

I believe Springfield makes 2 different mags specifically for the sub-compact.  One basically flush with the bottom of the grip and another longer mag with a spacer/filler which extends the grip frame so to speak.  The shorter one is best IMHO for carry with the other for a reload or to use at the range.  If you are asking will the compact mags work in the sub-compact the answer is yes but you have the ugly and sometimes uncomfortable gap.  Also, sometimes with the slide locked back the mag without the filler can get seated too hard and jam things up - not good in competition fatal in other situations.  If it were me I would only use the former no matter what so that I was used to the feel and etc. when the time came (heaven forbid) that I needed it!
