New Mini 30 Mags

Has anyone recieved any new Mini 30 Mags from Ruger, if so how good are they?  Just ordered a pair and was placed on back order, it would be nice to know if I have something worth waiting for.

I have 2 of the 20 round Ruger factory mags, and they run perfectly. If they are Ruger factory magazines you have nothing to worry about.  Bill T.

I owned, and liked, a mini-14. It was a reliable gun. I always thouht that it was what the M1 carbine should have been. That said, when it comes to the mini-30, why own one? If you like the look, thats fine. But remember it was supposed to be an inexpensive knock around carbine that would take hi-caps and be good enough at a hundred yards. Thing is, with prices down, you can sell that mini-30 and buy an AK. Plenty of inexpensive mags, equal or better accuracy and any part/mod you could want. Hell an SKS is a superior rifle. I'm not dissing Ruger here, I like their guns, but when it comes to the mini-30 I have to ask why? If you had an AK you wouldn't need to post about finding mags. Just my .02.

I own one because I wanted and can afford one, have had my Mini 30 for 4 years;  I also happen to own both an SKS and and AK along with many other WW1 and WW2 battle rifles and hand guns.  I collect all shorts of guns, that is what I do for fun and excitment.  If I want to go hunting I use one of my bolt action Rugers, Savage or Mossburg long guns that I own for hunting.

How is it on accuraccy and recoil? My mini-14 never, and I mean never, jammed with factory mags. Accuraccy left a bit to be desired, but recoil was mnimal. What I really want is for Ruger to offer a similar platform in .44 mag. I will buy the first one off the line.

I get the second one!  And you'll have a fight for that first one.  

They actually did produce said animal a few years ago.  ".44 Deerfield", a lot of people mistake the ".44 Carbine" for it.  The Deerfield had an action MUCH like an M1 Carbine.  I don't know that much about the Deerfield because I've never found one.  The .44 Carbine is the daddy to the 10/22.  And while they look near identical, they're NOTHING alike otherwise.  I love my .44 carbine, and have never had a single problem, but the trigger and action are so complex I'll bet there are two dozen springs in there!  Some big enough to fly accross the room and break stuff on impact.

What little I've heard about the Deerfield is that they worked on making it light and cheap to produce with lots of plastic parts.  That's why you don't see many.  The carbine is solid as a rock, and they quit producing it because all the machining involved just made it to expensive.  And WAY over complex IMO.  Terrible shame they went plasticy on the Deerfield.

As long as a weapon like the Mini 30 can give me center of mass accuracy at 50 yards that will do for me.  If I need better than that I have other guns in my inventory that will do the trick.
