Prayer for my grandmother
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:31:06 AM »
I just called my grandmother, who has had lots of health problems the last couple years. Not the least of which, she had a couple strokes in November and December of last year (On top of another couple of problems at the same time.). I think she had one or two more earlier in the year, too. She's spent most of this year in the hospital. she's home now. They have home nursing/rehab people coming 2 or 3 times a week. The strokes affected her speech, and while she said all her words clearly, she said the wrong words a lot. It's been that way ever since the strokes. Today she said she was doing fine, but she didn't recognize my voice like she always does. I live here in TX, and she and the rest of that side of the family are in Ohio, where she is. She asked me if my Uncle Tim is still killing deers, and when I said "I don't know. Haven't talked to him in a while." she said "What happened?" I dunno if she thought I was my older brother or one of my cousins or what, and even though I told her two or three times who it was, she didn't realize it or didn't hear it (Her hearing's been horrible since '94) or both. She's getting worse. :'(

I feel like I'm gonna be sick.....

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, she will be added to my list.

It's always hard to see our loved ones go through this kind of thing.

She is added to the list Walter.  Take care of your self and do what you need to do.

Sorry to hear that Walt.  It is very hard to see loved ones go that way (I know).

She, you and family are added to the list.

God Bless your Grandmother, Walt.

I've been through this with my own mother, my sympathies....

Speaking from experience, it's tough to know a loved one is going through a difficult health burden, and the distance makes it even worse.

Don't lose faith, Walter.
Your Grandmother, you and your family are in my prayers.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Hope and pray she has a family Christmas all around her, stay strong for her, tell her you love her. Grandmothers are very special.

Keep calling her, see her if you can, and talk to her often. I have gone through this with my Great Aunt Edith, and my own Grandmother.

Send letters, even if another family member has to read it to her, keep in touch as often as you can, even if it's hard for you.

All the prayers to her and you, especially this Christmas Season. Always let her know you love her.

Take Care and God Bless

Posted an update.

http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=10458.0

She's doing better, and some of the family has been able to come visit for Christmas, and some haven't. My Uncle and his family got to go over and spend time with her today, and my aunt was able to visit yesterday. My older brother hasn't been able to go over today, and may not get to.

Thank you again for all your prayers. :)
