"Public Enemies"
« on: December 09, 2009, 10:59:15 AM »
It is out on DVD today, and Melanie just got back from shopping and picked up a copy. Has anyone seen it? I'm not big Johnny Depp fan, but I heard he was excellent as Dillinger, and the shooting sequences were well filmed. We'll watch it this afternoon, and I'll report back. For anyone interested, only $15.00 at Wal-Mart  Bill T.

Actually, Depp is a pretty good actor, he's funny in "Pirates of the Caribbean" aqnd very unfunny in "The Departed".

Depp was in "The Departed"?  I thought that was DeCaprio, Mark Walberg, Nicholson and Matt Damon?

I don't remember him in that movie and I only watched it the first time last year!

Had him confused with DiCaprio, watch "The Departed" then watch, "Blood Diamond" you will not believe its the same guy.

We just watched it. I would give it an OK. It opens great, then slides a little. It was factual. They showed the shootout in Little Bohemia, his capture in Tuscon, and subsequent escape from the Crown Point, Indiana jail with the wooden gun, along with the capture of Billie Frechette with him watching across the street, and the now famous ending at the Biograph Theatre in Chicago. The shootouts were all well done, but a little too much muzzle flash. Overall I'd give it a 7 out of 10. For some reason the sound was difficult to hear. I had to keep throttling the volume up and down to hear some of the dialogue. It sounded a bit muffled for some reason.  Bill T.

It's because you have TOO MANY GUNS!
Send some to me for safe-keeping.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
